amalgams

angela england
Greetings to all,
My wife Maria has had all 4 amalgams removed, along with charcoal to remove mercury from her system. She has had favorable results. Now I have her taking glutathione, which makes even more difference in a positive way. Her sensitivity to chemicals is much lower, to metal very much reduced, to electricity about 10% of previous symptoms. I am passing this along so others may benefit from amalgam removal and charcoal and glutathione benefits. This support group has helped us so much, where a medical doctor did nothing--had not even heard of mcs or es!
Marc and other members, if you have any comments, please post them here.

That's great news! What are you specifically taking for glutathione --
I've heard that various forms of this are not absorbed well.

Excellent news - thanks for sharing it with us. Like Marc, I'd be
interested to hear how Maria takes the glutathione. Sue also finds it a
huge help - in fact when she finds her chemical sensitivity is increasing
she knows it's time to go for a boost. She has to take it intravenously,
but that's partly because she has leaky gut and maladsorption problems.

To Ian, She takes it in form of capsule once a day with food, not milk. It's really a very easy way to take her daily dosage.
I am sharing this with all of you because together we can find a personalized treatment for each individual case.
This group has been a very educative source and I appreciate all of your help and comments. Our next query is what is the best air purifier for a house to reduce the amount of smog buildup inside. We have returned to our second house after the third house had too much emf. Smog is the problem with this house (carbon monoxide).
On another note, my wife called her sister who lives in Mexico City. She has a canopy bed to protect from emf and she swears by it. It was prescribed by a doctor there. He also prescribed a special water which she and the other sister in Mexico City swear by. Does anyone know what water the dr. may have prescribed?

RE: air purifiers / special water

Counter-intuitively, I would recommend an ozone-based air purifier
to eliminate smog. I say counter-intuitively because the public
have been "educated" that ozone is cause of smog, when in reality
it is the ozone that is cleaning up the smog. Ozone air purifiers
are good for things like cigarette smoke, offgassing paints and
carpets, pet odors, etc. Hypersensitive folks can however be
sensitive to ozone, so you may need to choose lesser powered
models or put them on an on/off timer. The variation in how
people respond to the smell of ozone was really demonstrated
to me last summer after a building manager painted an exterior
door next to my wife's business with some really toxic oil-based
paint. I brought in a strong ozone air purifier and had it
turned on low. However, one of the employees turned it up to
high, which was way too strong for both me and my wife (making
the air smell like chlorine bleach). However, the customers
kept commenting on how great the air smelled, so obviously
they weren't sensitive to it, and actually liked the amount
of ozone that me and my wife found objectionable.

If you want to experiment with ozone, I'd recommend trying
an EcoQuest Fresh Air Focus, which can be purchased new on
eBay for about $30. I also use air purifiers from Biozone
Scientific, which produce ozone via a UV bulb. I've tried
many other brands over the years, but these are what I've
ended up mostly using. And if the air smells too much
like chlorine bleach near the purifier, then put it on
a timer which turns it on and off every 10-30 minutes.

There are a lot of companies selling "special water",
so you'll probably have to find out exactly who
the manufacturer is or the name of the product.

Thanks! With all the various things I've tried, amazingly I've
never tried taking glutathione in a capsule! My doctor gave
me some glutathione cream which absorbs through the skin
(bypassing digestion absorption problems), but I can't say
that I ever noticed it doing anything.

Hi Mike and Maria

Would there be any benefit in taking the glutathione even before amalgam removal? The reason I ask is that I have to have surgery and can't start my amalgam removal until after I have had that and recovered [need to see how that goes] so I don't know when exactly that will be, but could I get some benefit at least from starting the glutathione before the amalgam removal?

Glutathione is an antioxidant, so if you are suffering from excess free
radical damage (probably so), then it certainly could be beneficial
either before or after amalgam removal.

I would suggest that it is well worth trying glutathione before the surgery
and amalgam removal. As well as being an antioxidant, it is a key component
of the liver detoxification processes, and failure of these is often a root
cause of immune system problems and ES.

We have seen lots of people with MCS and ES being treated with glutathione
and it nearly always makes a difference. But quite a lot may be needed.

I've tried glutathione in the form of Immunocal (including Platinum). I
didn't notice improvement either. Ditto Goji berries, ditto flax oil,
ditto Mountain Rose spirulina, ditto Perfect Food & Primal Defense
(though they're good foods albeit overpriced).

The latest I've purchased is blue-green algae & I'll see what gives.

I personally find the most power-foods to be probiotic yogurt - good
old yogurt - especially Stonyfield. And eggs.

Finally, VOIPS (as I forementioned & based on my experience) are top
therapies most of which can be easily tried for anyone with convenient
access to balmy-sea locales. Unfortunately due to my circumstances I
don't. As for the Vibrational therapy, I know that genuinely helps
after my experience on backseat of bus, and I wish the following were
available affordably:

I'm also hoping to get a bounceback chair, but meanwhile don't have
room, since I haven't had luck selling furniture to make room for same.

Re: Glutathione

I am taking N-A-C (N-Acetyl-L-Cysteine)which is a powerful
antioxident and precursor to glutathione. I have heard that
glutathione itself as a supplement is not well absorbed (though
something called reduced glutathione may be). N-A-C is suppossed to
be excellant for detoxing and of course it increases levels of
glutathione as well. I first tried it on an empty stomach as it is an
amino acid but that gave me intestinal pain. I now take it with food
and have no problem.

Re: glutathione

Ian Kemp
In reply to this post by Minni
I believe that a key point is that glutathione has a double function. (1)
General, as an antioxidant. (2) Specific, as one of the key liver detox
pathways.

For many MCS and ES people, the immune system has been seriously weakened,
and this is often due to one or more of the liver pathways being "broken".
If the glutathione pathway is broken, or has been seriously depleted by
overload from other pathways failing, glutathione will be needed. But if
this is not the case, any antioxidant will be equally helpful.

So glutathione can help some people and not others - my impression is that
it helps more than half of severe sufferers particularly if they are MCS as
well.

Glutathione precursors like Immunocal and NAC are a good idea, but they
don't work for everyone. In some cases the flaw in the body's metabolism is
that it can't break down the precursors to make glutathione.

Also some people suffer side effects - Sue found she got bad reactions to
both NAC and immunocal, so couldn't take them.

Yes, premature aging is a good sign of excessive free radical damage.
Gray hair may be part of that, although I think gray hair could just
be a mineral deficiency.

I do note that Andy Cutler (a mercury "expert" with an almost cult
following) advises that mercury toxic people NOT take supplementary
glutathione unless they have test results showing they are deficient.
Otherwise, glutathione could unsafely mobilize mercury without
removing it from the body.

I know that in my own case, whenever I take anything that is supposed
to raise glutathione to a significant degree, I feel terrible. I do
okay with things that raise it a little (e.g. an avocado), but with
supplements, I usually can only tolerate a fraction of the recommend
dosage.
