Higher cancer rates in under-18 cell phone users.

The cancer threat of cell phone use has been recognized by some scientists
and critics for decades, but has, essentially, been covered up by the cell
phone industry and by much of the mainstream media. Philadelphia Bulletin,
PA.

DECT phones are usually clearly labeled DECT 6.0. Any phone labeled 5.8, 5.8 GHz, 2.4 GHz, or 900 MHz is not DECT. A DECT phone broadcasts its 1.9 GHz signal 24/7, whereas the other phones mentioned only broadcast when a call is in progress. Hope this helps, java.

As I have understood,
in Europe DECT phones work at 1880-1900 MHz.

In the USA DECT phones work in the 5.8 GHz band.

Re: Re: DECT phones (was titled higher cancer rates...)

BiBrun
There is a lot of confusion but apparently US DECT phones are 1.92 GHz.
They may be labeled DECT 5.8 or DECT 6.0.

It is not true that all non-DECT transmit only when there is a call.
The Uniden ones I tested transmit only during a call, and many
Panasonics. For sure some Sony transmit all the time. Unfortunately
the only way to know is to test the phone, apparently. I think some Radio
Shack phones are identical to Uniden.

Ideally, you'd get a corded phone -- that's all we have in our
house. It sounds like you have the worst possible kind of phone
right now. If you or your family require a cordless phone,
then perhaps someone here can recommend one that's less damaging
than the one you've got.

I'm no expert on cordless phones (since I don't own one), but I assume that
you'd want to keep the phone base (transmitter) as far away from you as
possible. In theory, I suppose the signals could affect you anywhere that
the phone receiver works.

I bought a Uniden analog cordless phone, and it gives off very little low level EMFs from the phone and base when not in use. No high levels at all, on the Tri-field meter. The low reading drops off when the meter is moved several inches away.

I bought it from Amazon, and it was very inexpensive.

Normally DECT phones do have a range of 300 meters.
There are newer types that go as far as 1000 meters.
And it is not the phone itsself that poses the danger, but it is the base
station (where the phone in rests and will be charged) that emits its 100 Hz
allo the time, 24 hours a day, whether you phone or not.

There are now DECT phones which do not radiate all the time, like the types
of Orchid.

But, beware of the following:

There are Eco DECT. They use lesser electricity, so they are more economical
in current costs, but the radiation stays the same.
So they are bad.

Then we have DECT ECO MODE. They do have 80 % less radiation.

And finally we have DECT ECO MODE PLUS, which are shielded 100 %.
Those are the types we can use.
Of course, they do radiate when you use the phone, but not 24 hours a day.

There are also the wireless house phones, which are not DECT but analogue,
and do not radiate like the DECT phones, but in Europe they are no longer
available.
In Europe they work between 885 and 932 MHz.

Ideally, you'd get a corded phone -- that's all we have in our
house. It sounds like you have the worst possible kind of phone
right now. If you or your family require a cordless phone,
then perhaps someone here can recommend one that's less damaging
than the one you've got.

paul uk = try tin foil around the base with the phone in the base and
experiment on your reception to the phone, you will need an electrosmog detector
or similar to show results..

I bought it from Amazon, and it was very inexpensive.

TRY USING THE ELECTROSMOG DETECTOR NEAR YOUR PHONE THE TRIFEILD WILL NOT
GIVE YOU A GOOD ENOUGH READING.

It would work throughout the whole house. I have it in a room I don't spendmuch time in but maybe it doesn't matter. Loni

I'm no expert on cordless phones (since I don't own one), but I assume that
you'd want to keep the phone base (transmitter) as far away from you as
possible. In theory, I suppose the signals could affect you anywhere that
the phone receiver works.

I think I bought the Uniden phone last fall. They may still be available, or some other analog phones on the site.

I have gone back to the corded analogue phone I used before - you don't have the same convenience of being able to use it anywhere you want and I still get problems ES wise which phone calls, but at least it is better than having a constant signal in your home.

DECT phones are usually clearly labeled DECT 6.0. Any phone labeled 5.8, 5.8 GHz, 2.4 GHz, or 900 MHz is not DECT. A DECT phone broadcasts its 1.9 GHzsignal 24/7, whereas the other phones mentioned only broadcast when a callis in progress. Hope this helps, java.
