Electric shocks from a computer mouse

I get these all the time.. anybody else? How can it be even possible? I just hate this rotten condition... :(

You could be getting voltage coming in from the computer. I've certainly encountered
problems with mice that were fixed by changing computers.

But you could also experiment with different types of mice, if your computer supports
them:

-- ball mouse vs. optical
-- PS/2 mouse vs. USB

In an extreme case, I suppose you could try a fiber optic USB extension cable,
but that would be expensive (although it should eliminate any stray voltage
coming from the computer)

it does not seem to make a difference which mouse i use, i have tried several.

It's probably the computer then, not the mouse. Have you tried several
different computers? :-)

Hi,

I was feeling what was similar to shocks last year. My nerve endings were
raw from
quitting benzodiazapine drugs like valium.

Using the cardboard side of a spiral notebook for a mouse pad helped. I
don't know if
it would help you, but could try.

At which point I have no more helpful advice... :-(

As I said before, I have experienced this myself, but it was
fixed by changing computers, not changing the mouse.

However, I will note that the computer mice that I use
are ancient -- they use the PS/2 interface (and I have
a USB to PS/2 adapter for one computer), and
they have a ball on the bottom (no LED/laser).
Manufactured by Microsoft in the 1990s.

Have you tried a grounded mouse pad? They do sell such things...

Well, I used to have a Sony tower (from 2003) that was
really nice. Right now I have a Lenovo tower (2010 model --
the m58e) that is also perfectly acceptable to me. But I have
tried other computers and rejected them.
