What was the results from the last posts on the crowns? I need several & dentist recommends the porcelain. Said he has never had any problems with them. Been doing for 30 years plus. The build up material is a product called Luxacore. Anybody do okay with that? Not sure about the adhesive. I need to get going on them asap before I need another root canal. :o) Loni [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] |

The general recommendation is to put no metal in your mouth. So the crown should be metal-free (interior & exterior), and the materials used to bond to the tooth should be metal-free. Sometimes a porcelain crown is only porcelain on the outside, with metal on the inside (for example, nickel). Also, I had a porcelain crown that the dentist used gold to bond it to the tooth. I think a "normal" / typical dentist may not even be aware of the metal content of the materials they use. You may have better luck with a "holistic" or "mercury-free" dentist. Loni, if you are in Arizona, I see that there are a few such dentists in Tuscon and Scottsdale: http://mercuryfreedentists.com/mercury-free-dentists/arizona.html Marc |

Loni,
The doctor I have been seeing doesn't recommend root canals,I know I have had mine for 30 years and didn't have any problems with it, until I became sensitive. The doctor who took it out checked to see what materials I am sensitive to. It would be good to go to a biological dentist. Many people are going to Mexico, and actually my dentist didn't screw up like I thought, I had it wrong, but it is an emotionally upsetting thing to go through. When the dentists says he's never had a problem with porcelain crowns he's referring to how they last. If somoeone got symptoms from a blocked meridian, neither the patient nor the dentist were ever aware of it. The dentist who put in my titanium pins, and ceramic crowns with metallic colorant, said that not one person besides me had ever had any problem. I doubt that. I suppose that no one else ever put 2 + 2 together. The adhesives can be problematic in the same way. Does anyone near you do eleectrodermal testing, so you can test for the materials beforehand? Loni,
I have had 2 recent crowns done. 2 Lava Crowns, which are zirconium, but the dentist botched them. I had very little tooth left and even though he is a holistic dentist he preferred to use Gold fused to porcelain because this was a large molar and the Gold base is stronger. The Gold part was 88% Gold with no nickel or palladium which is rare. If I had a choice I would go with metal free though. If this is a Molar there is an all zirconium crown called Bruxzir which is very strong but the dentist has to know how to use it. I also had a Clifford Reactivity test done to see which materials I was allergic to, including cements and bonding material. A holistic dentist would be able to hook you up with that. In the meantime if you are in pain I recommend oil pulling. Google it-basically you take one tablespoon of organic sesame oil and swich it around your mouth for 15 minutes then spit it out. It was amazing how much it helped my pain and my teeth felt more solid afterwards. This is done in the AM before eating or drinking anything. Also, a good mouthwash for pain is VitaMyr. I get it at whole foods, it's pricy but very good-actually the only one I could tolerate while the temp crown (from the incompetent dentist) was on my tooth. Thanks Marc, Steve, & Maureen! Trying to use my dentist on my insurance plan because the expense is just too much to go to a holistic dentist. I need several crowns & a bridge. It's really overwhelming. I did have the reactivity test so I'll look at it. I think this dentist is willing to work with me as much as he can but the office rep said they are not set up to work with sensitive people like me. I need to get 2 of them done asap so to avoid a root canal. I will doing research starting tomorrow. Intersting that the porcelain has some metal in it. That's not good. Hmmmm.. Hi Steve
I had another amalgam removal session last Friday - 10 days ago now - and am still on painkillers - had a bad TMJ episode after the treatment which took over an hour and am still on painkillers - I don't think there is anything wrong with the teeth or the new restorations themselves - but there has been excessive sensitivity[ and hence the pain] on a scale like I have never before experienced, which I am pretty sure is linked to the TMJ - I have spent whatever computer time I have had recently googling teeth and pain and sensitivity etc and on an excellent site [www.healingteethnaturally.com] they recommended oil pulling for the reasons why you did - I haven' tdone it yet because I only have extra virgin coconut oil and don't have sesame oil - is there any partic reason why it has to be sesame oil - does it have particular mineral properties or anyhting which benefit the teeth?? best wishes Steph ________________________________ From: torch369 <[hidden email]> To: [hidden email] Sent: Sun, 28 November, 2010 19:28:49 Subject: [eSens] Re: Dental Crowns! Porcelain can have some aluminum in it but usually an all porcelain crown has no metal. A PFM crown is porcelain fused to metal, which is what I got (porcelain fused to mainly gold). A Lava Crown is porcelain fused to zirconia

Hi Steph,
It actually can be other oils but the Indians used sesame or sunflower. I chose sesame because it has immune boosting properties and doesn't taste bad. You can use the coconut oil, I've read that some people do. Coconut also has virus killing properties. Try it in the AM. If you dont like using that oil get the sesame and give it a shot. It works really well. A good alternative doctor here recommends it. http://www.oilpulling.com/ Says it can heal many things. Explains to use cold pressed polyunsaturated oil from seeds stimulate the body to detox. I need to try it again. The articles will explain more. I know it doesn't upset the microflora of the gut. You have to chew swish it. It needs to turn a whitish color. Toxic if swallowed. Hi, Steph,
Sorry to hear you are in such pain. You can use any kind of oil for oil pulling. Just pick an oil which you don't like for cooking with or eating, since there is a small chance you will hate the taste of it (and associate it with oil pulling) after some time using it for that. I use safflower oil for oil pulling since I don't like to cook with it anyway. But essentially, any oil will do. The best thing to help with tmj pain, is to try not to move your jaw too much. But this can be difficult if your joint is actually out of place. Splints are wonderful for this but they are pricey to have professionally made. When my jaw felt like it was not in the correct position, my doc told me to: open my mouth as wide as I could, push my lower jaw forward as far as possible, and then slowly close my mouth, to an aligned position. Splints also help after doing this, and here in the States, you can buy a mouth guard that athletes use and mold a temporary one yourself. (You put it in boiling water and bite on it.) But the thing here is you need to know first that your bite is in the right position, so your alignment is correct (and also, the material used for the splint is possibly not tolerable if you have MCS/EI). So it is best to practice the procedure I mentioned (opening mouth, etc) a few times till you know you are doing it correctly and getting back to the proper bite. Also, sometimes from dental work and the irritation of the jaw being out of place, you end up with inflammation in the joint. If you have inflammation in the joint, sometimes you cannot put your jaw back in place till the inflammation calms down. In that case, there is not much you can do but take pain killers and try to rest your jaw as much as possible. Oil pulling will benefit the teeth, in time, by pulling out any (generic term) parasitic infections you have in the gums and making the teeth less of a breeding ground for them. But you have to keep at it long-term. Hope you are soon feeling much better, Steph, Diane --- On Sun, 11/28/10, Stephanie Smith <[hidden email]> wrote: From: Stephanie Smith <[hidden email]> Subject: [eSens] OIL PULLING [was Dental Crowns! Thanks, Kathy,
Yes, you should use salt and baking soda (I also use a little peroxide) in order to get the toxic crap the oil pulls off your teeth after oil pulling. Goodluck, Steph. Hi Diane
Thanks so much for this really helpful information about the TMJ and the oil pulling. I have tried a couple of times so far to go off the painkillers but found I had to go back on them - yesterday morning after breakfast [soft soft porridge] it actually felt like the muscle in the jaw on that side where I had the work done was in spasm so it was back to the painkillers again! There is also just such a sensitivity - to hot drinks and to an intake of cold air [winter has come very early here - snow ice and very cold temps!!!] - I have been trying to suck on a piece of root ginger every so often and that helps. I will definitely not be getting any more amalgam replacement done until this calms down and even then I am going to have to just do one filling at a time and do it slowly since my TMJ cannot tolerate doing them all in a single sitting [3 more to go!!] I read somewhere that apparently you aren't supposed to do oil pulling if you still have mercury amalgam in your mouth so is it ok for me to start doing this even though I haven't got all of mine out? I know I owe you a reply [or several] from literally ages ago , but things have been very busy here what with teeth, incapacity [with teeth!] candida [still v confused] and trying to move back in permantly to my house and getting to grips with the backlog of undone maintenance that needs to be done. I am sure you are busy too but you are just a better correspondent and poster than I am. Hope things are good for you at the moment. Are you moved in now to the new house and how is it going? Take good care of yourself Diane. all the best Steph X ________________________________ From: Evie <[hidden email]> To: [hidden email] Sent: Tue, 30 November, 2010 19:13:50 Subject: Re: [eSens] OIL PULLING [was Dental Crowns! But the thing here is you need to know first that your bite is in the right position, so your alignment is correct (and also, the material used for the splint is possibly not tolerable if you have MCS/EI). Help needed quick!] To: [hidden email] Date: Sunday, November 28, 2010, 4:57 PM Hi Steve I had another amalgam removal session last Friday - 10 days ago now - and am still on painkillers - had a bad TMJ episode after the treatment which took over an hour and am still on painkillers - I don't think there is anything wrong with the teeth or the new restorations themselves - but there has been excessive sensitivity[ and hence the pain] on a scale like I have never before experienced, which I am pretty sure is linked to the TMJ - I have spent whatever computer time I have had recently googling teeth and pain and sensitivity etc and on an excellent site [www.healingteethnaturally.com] they recommended oil pulling for the reasons why you did - I haven' tdone it yet because I only have extra virgin coconut oil and don't have sesame oil - is there any partic reason why it has to be sesame oil - does it have particular mineral properties or anyhting which benefit the teeth?? best wishes Steph ________________________________ From: torch369 <[hidden email]> To: [hidden email] Sent: Sun, 28 November, 2010 19:28:49 Subject: [eSens] Re: Dental Crowns! Help needed quick! Loni, I have had 2 recent crowns done. Hi Diane and Kathy
Thanks also for this advice - I only did it once and found it hard to keep swishing it around my mouth for 20 minutes - I brushed and rinsed with warm water after but the baking soda and salt is a good tip so thanks a lot best wishes Steph ________________________________ From: Evie <[hidden email]> To: [hidden email] Sent: Tue, 30 November, 2010 21:17:54 Subject: Re: [eSens] Re: Re: OIL PULLING [was Dental Crowns! Help needed quick!] Thanks, Kathy, Yes, you should use salt and baking soda (I also use a little peroxide) in order to get the toxic crap the oil pulls off your teeth after oil pulling. Goodluck, Steph. I hope you are feeling better, Diane --- On Sun, 11/28/10, KathyB <[hidden email]> wrote: From: KathyB <[hidden email]> Subject: [eSens] Re: Re: OIL PULLING [was Dental Crowns! Explains to use cold pressed polyunsaturated oil from seeds stimulate the body to detox. I need to try it again.  The articles will explain more. I know it doesn't upset the microflora of the gut. You have to chew swish it. It needs to turn a whitish color. Toxic if swallowed. Hi Steve
Thanks for this - I quite like the taste of coconut oil and sesame oil - I think I would have to choose an oil I like the flavour of because of needing to keep it in the mouth for that length of time. Can you use toasted sesame oil you can get in the supermarket or does it have to be less processed? Thanks Steph ________________________________ From: torch369 <[hidden email]> To: [hidden email] Sent: Mon, 29 November, 2010 4:07:25 Subject: [eSens] Re: OIL PULLING [was Dental Crowns! Help needed quick!] Hi Steph, It actually can be other oils but the Indians used sesame or sunflower. I chose sesame because it has immune boosting properties and doesn't taste bad. You can use the coconut oil, I've read that some people do. Coconut also has virus killing properties. Try it in the AM. If you dont like using that oil get the sesame and give it a shot. It works really well.
