Hello,
I am sick now because of my cordless phone. I'm going out today to buy a corded phone. Just want to know that corded phones will be okay . Thank you so much. Estelle [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] |

A corded phone should be better than a cordless phone.
However, we do need to be careful about generalizing too much, because I once owned a corded phone that was horrible and had to be replaced with a different model. The horrible model had an AC adapter to power the caller ID, so you might want to avoid phones that have AC adapters (we have battery-powered called ID now). I don't know how easy it will be to "go out" and find a corded phone these days -- you may need to buy this online or at a thrift store, because the retail outlets mostly (I think) have cordless phones. Marc, there are some corded phones out there but most don't have caller
ID. I'm looking everywhere as caller ID I think is important. I can leave my cordless phone in place to take messages but won't pick it up ever. I'll make sure I don't get a phone with an AC adapter. Thanks for the tips. Estelle [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] |

I'll note that Pansonic and GE corded phones with battery-powered
caller ID have both been pretty tolerable for me. Marc On July 16, [hidden email] wrote: > Marc, there are some corded phones out there but most don't have caller > ID. I don't know if that's safe or not -- it's possible that your cordless phone and/or base station is still transmitting wirelessly even when they are together and not being used... at least, I think I recall that some DECT phones work this way.... Yes, I read that cordless phones, the base, acts as having a mini cell towerin one's house. Also, Marc made an excellent point about the corded phone and avoidingone with that black plug in transformer. I have a Uniden, that has caller ID on battery, and have no problem with it. Lizzie, thank you very much for that information. I had some how thought
that Uniden's weren't good phones. Maybe they have changed. Also, do you have a separate answering machine? I don't know if corded phones come with an answering machinel. Estelle [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] |
Welcome!I thought so too, but tried one and it's been no problem for me.I don't have an answering machine. The only ones I could findhad the black transformer plug, and that bothers me. As transformerplugs ect put out high emfs/dirty electricity. My Uniden phone has caller Id and I just check to see who called. Its the one that is the full desk model, not the skinny slim line phone, whichI found the caller ID battery ate batteries like candy. This one doesn't. Yes, its inconvient, but oh well.......I"ve managed to live w/o an asnweringmachine for quite a while now. I found this phone at K-marts and I know radio shack also carriesthe corded phones. At least in my area. www.lessemf.com also carries a low emf corded telephone. Don't have any experience with those, but its an opton. You can get away with batteries if all you have is Caller ID and/or a speaker phone. We've avoided this by having voicemail... Marc |

Marc, I will probably have to use voice mail too.
I do however like caller ID. Hopefully I can find one that doesn't eat up batteries. Thank you. I can't wait to get this problem solved. My health is on the line. Estelle [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] |

Hi Estelle,
I bought my cheapo phone @ Family Dollar for $12. It has a battery operated caller ID which I have found to be suitable, plus I get the 50 feet cord for decent mobility. Good luck, Pam --- On Mon, 7/16/12, [hidden email] <[hidden email]> wrote: From: [hidden email] <[hidden email]> Subject: Re: [eSens] Corded Phones, please respond asap. Thanks Pam, that's a great deal and I'm happy it's working well for you.
I'm sure I'll find something pretty soon. Estelle [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] |

Avoid computerized displays and caller ID, so that it should have no EMR emissions. I am happy with the GE 2-9421, GE 2-9433, GE 2-9316, GE 2-9315A. I have an old Bell phone that could be 15-20 years old. Older the better. Get something used (and cheap) from a thrift store. Somebody gave me a new corded Radio Shack phone a few years ago. I couldn't use it.

Thanks to all of you who responded to me. There is so much I didn't know.
That's why these sites are so necessary. Hopefully by the weekend I will have a phone I can use. Estellle [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] |
I agree Estelle,
I wish there were more of these type sites all over the web. But this creation by Marc has been the most up to date and reliable that I have encountered thus far. Arthur Firstenberg also has been very resourceful in actually bringing people together who correspond via phone or in person. That's great, also. Thanks again Marc!
