where to live?

Bonnie
I am wondering if anyone has any spots ( other than Green Banks VA) that they have found that are relatively wifi safe areas in the country? Has anyone heard anything about the New Mexico area too?

Well, the obvious answer to that is to go where you don't have anyone else living nearby.  Certainly I've gone on vacations to "the middle of nowhere" and there is no wi-fi or cellphone coverage.

there are places all over that are pretty much
free of cell towers and wifi.
a friend used to call me when she was
driving home in VA and in W.VA... there were
lots of places where her connection would die
because there were no towers there.
driving across country I also noticed lots of
'dead' zones.
i could tell when i was nearing a tower
because i'd get "that" feeling... then i'd go
over a hill  - and there it was!
a bank of big windmills had the same effect.
wherever there is motion, sound, light or heat
from a machine, there will be EMFs.

Yes, I've noticed feeling bad when driving by those "farms" of windmills...

Re: where to live?

i think there's something fundamentally flawed in a system
that tries to monopolize/control the source of power/energy.
from what i understand, everyone could simply have a little
gadget at home that would generate enough power for
their own use.  no need for mega conglomerate collectors
and generators and big corporate control.

Yes, but I haven't seen sufficient evidence that those little gadgets actually exist... other than on a YouTube video.  :-)

i understand that the mega corporations
will buy inventions and shelve them...
and i've heard that some inventors are
eliminated in various ways, to make
their work unavailable to the public.
oil corporations want a monopoly over
the "energy" industry - and they all
work with one another to maintain
control.  for instance, i once worked
on the prudhoe bay project 30+ years
ago and it was a joint venture - each
oil company taking a different phase
of the project.  all those tentacles
share one central head.  oil companies
would lose a lot of revenue if alternative
energy was to be allowed.

I found sitting in my trailer that one afternoon before it went to storage, I had just that gadget.  The fridge was on propane. So was the heat and solar ran the minimal lights and my laptop etc...It cost me about 1K for 200 watts, not enough to really live as I like w/ a stereo and large TV projection, but enough to get by, if using led candles and laptop on battery. It would take at least 2 to 4 more hundred watts to do that and that would be another 1K to 2K or more including install.  I was planning to live on the 200 watts for the time being and would have been great.

Back to the title of the post: Finding a place to park that was not going to worse has not proved possible or affordable. All the affordable spots had NO landline or DSL and being disabled I need those to get food and basic needs and even if my state improved enough to be able to  get to the stores to buy food and necessities, I would not be able to shop in them due to wifi. With the landline and DSL I can get food shipped and food that has not been irradiated by some router-fresher and lasts longer. I can get batteries and my medicines.  Can't have any of those survival needs w/ out a phone and internet access. I would dies w/ out my medication I get online.

Ok I could use wireless internet and a cellphone, but that defeats the purpose of finding a safe place to go.  I have found I am better off in the original place that has made me sicker than going to something safer and then requiring wireless or having to go to places that blast me. I am researching other options say northern AZ or places in NM that are serviced by Windstream.  Also looking into maybe moving far out and having wireless receiver that I could "wire" into my living space from a distance. Not sure if that would work, but will not try it un less I am sure it would work.

If you could live w/ out a phone or internet, or have major wealth-a lot of ES folks are very rich, tehn you can find rural place w/ landline and DSL or  cable but again you have to be rich to pay for those places.  If not rich then you would have to live w/ someone that could shop for you can contact others for you. Also must be able to do solar as the rural places have smart meters or are again not affordable.  That has been wheat I have found in 3 years of looking in the wouthern part of the the US.  If I were able Icould live in WV, but I can not shovel snow or stack wood-must be military fit and healthy to do that place and take those winters.

I assume living near a major radio telescope, like the one in Green Bank, will keep the cell phone towers away, anywhere in the USA, at the very least?  If so, lets consider living near these locations as options too?  New Mexico has their own telescopes outside the city limits of Socorro, maybe that's a safe place while being within a reasonable distance from urban life?  Can anybody validate this?

Re: where to live?

I like to add and make my last posting to make more sense.  Socorro, New Mexico has the Long Wavelength Array telescopes and I assume the FCC does not approve cell phone towers to be built in that area and/or near most major telescopes including Kitt Peak in Arizona.

In other words, if you decide to live in the middle of nowhere, your not protected from the FCC unless your in the zone.  Therefore, FCC should be able to provide anyone who want in to inquire all the FCC quite zones other than the one in Green Bank?
