starving for less sensitivity?

Amanda Kolter
Anyone else see the Harper's article this month about starvation as a
treatment for disease?  If not, go read it!  Fascinating article...  It
talks specifically about fasting helping cancer and epilepsy, mostly.  I'm
wondering if anyone has tried this sort of approach for ES.  I'm thinking
I'll give it a shot - it would be a very affordable treatment, especially
since you wouldn't have to buy any food :).

Electrosensitivity seems related to blood sugar, too.  To me, the Paleo
diet seems to be helpful - starts evening out blood sugar so the peaks and
lows aren't so drastic.  The fasting thing is more extreme, but gets to the
same root, I think.

Just curious.

Best,
Amanda

Amanda,
Thank you for answering my questions. I have found reflexology
and accupressure to be very helpful in opening blocked electrical
passage ways/meridians. Which in turn, does help some aspects
of ES.
I think the blood sugar issue is an issue with many people today-
due to low adrenals. I believe in time, you will find this a common
find in your practice.
Dr. Simoncini believes some cancers are mold/candida related; so the fasting
would make sense, in that the mold/candida cells would basically have their
food source cut off, thereby killing the cells by starving them.
However, as you stated, probably not a safe way
to treat low adrenal condition, specifically, low blood sugar.  There are
other ways to do fasting, such as juice fasting or even blending veggies
using a blender and adding water. For some people, doing a raw
vegetable fast with no processed foods is a more do able thing.
While fasting whether extreme or juicing does help the liver- which is always
a good thing; I doubt that being fried by wireless radiation or adversely affected
by dirty electricity can be cured by fasting. Here's the thing: someone with an allergy
to strawberries, might, after a period of time, be able to eat small amounts without
the reaction. But with wireless radiation assaulting the body, its very different. Why?
One can choose to totally eliminate strawberries and be successful. As it stands right
now, there are almost no places one can go, to be OUT of the field of wireless
radiation for any decent length of time; which would in theory, allow the body time
to heal.
What the ES population really needs  are
radiation-free zones, easily accessible to all those in need. And if the huge proliferation
of this dangerous and untested technology keeps growing, we will need equally
huge radiation free zones, to accomodate the growing numbers of people being
harmed by these technologies.
Then, having safe places to live, away from this micro wave radiation, the addition
of natural healers/ect, who are knowledgable to both Multiple Chemical Sensitivity
and Electro Sensitivity would be a welcome and much needed feature.

Lizzie

Hi Lizzie,
Yes, radiation free zones are totally necessary.  I visited Green Bank, WV
this summer - and it is really nice.  If it becomes an ES haven (and not
just a handful of ESers in a town of hicks), I will probably move there.
But in general, safe areas are going to become fewer and not more, at
least for the next few years (until enough people get sick that this issue
becomes a global health crisis).
Also, I could not click on that link.  Can you resend it?
Thanks!

> I'm wondering if anyone has tried this sort of approach for ES.

I tried fasting about 11 years ago, after reading how good it was
for various diseases.  I only lasted a couple days, and felt
really, really awful.  I decided that was about the worst
possible thing I could have done, for whatever was wrong with
me at the time.

(of course, everyone is different -- this may be the best
possible thing that some people here could do, for whatever
is wrong with them now)

Mostly I find that going too long without food or water
will make me feel bad, while eating/drinking frequently
makes me feel better.  And of course, over the years I
have found that certain foods make me feel better than
others.

Amanda,
Sorry about that.
Type in the google search: Electro Sensitivity and Mulitple Chemical Sensitivity,
Two Sides of the Same Coin. I think this Dr. has nailed it on the head.
That will bring it up.

P.S.
I have done many fasting sessions over the years....Starting with just eating raw veggies
then juicing or blending...first few times, I barely made it thru 2 days. It was awful!
The 3rd time, I was able to go a whole  3 days, on juicing, and very liquidy liver cleanser soup (cooked/pureed/(water
added to thin it out): equal parts of: organic celery, zuccini, green beans). And that time, I knew something
wonderful had happened.  I personally think we'd be healthier
if we had "Give the Liver a Day off day", every 3 mths or so. Be it just the soup I mentioned, or
juicing or blending raw veggies. The liver needs time off just like we do.
I read that three days is better then two - and my own experience showed that.
Anything solid has to be digested by the liver.
Did it help me? Tremendously, as far as helping to clean out the liver. As did the coffee
enemas. While I can't say it helps with ES issues, it does help to have a healthier liver.
I look at the liver as a garbage can to the body. So anything we can do to "take out the
trash" will benefit us.

RE: starving for less sensitivity?

I was thinking about what Marc said, also.  When we challenge the food supply of our simbiotic companions...they want to eat, Marc.  They say in particular that when people are ravaged by candida that they can literally crave what the candida prefer or require, as if by order.  Sometimes even when people are obese they get overcome by feelings of hunger when they could probably go a number of days without food at all.  To sum it up, sometimes our bugs, bug us.

Also, you know that initially detox can be a real trial.  Habits are a bitch to break, too.  Juice fasting is an awesome notion, because at least you're getting chlorophyll and nutrients that are natural and essential.

Maybe... I've certainly gone days without eating when I get the
flu, and never get hungry or suffer from excessive detox symptoms...

The thing is, even a simple Blender will work!
The point is to make the veggies a liquid form...so that the Liver can clean house. And
I have read two week fastings/juicings, but have also read that three days is long enough
to clear  some of the stuff OUT of the Liver. I did the juicing/blending
every 4-5 weeks, for like 6 mths.
(first time I barely made it past two days..but hey, it was two DAYS!
I also learned to stock up on what I needed before hand, try to plan it when stresses
were low, and  folks, I still had to cook dinner for my family...so this was NOT easy.
I soon learned to try to make their foods ahead of time, to keep my "temptation levels" as low
as possible. And not to have any of my favorite foods around.

I try to find the easiest ways, and lots of people don't have a juicer and they can be pricey.
But you can get a Blender for 20-30 bucks. Or borrow one for a few days, even.
You just have to remember to ADD water
to make the veggies very liquidy. This way, you're NOT starving yourself, getting a bad
head-ache, and just the thought of fasting, going without food, scares people and turns
them OFF of this.
And Pam, you are right, candida feed on certain sugars/starches and I believe- DO cause people
to crave the very foods the candida feeds on.
That being said, I don't think that straight water fasting is a good idea for most people. For those
who are into it, have done it, sure. But to me, its too extreme, and fraught with nasty side effects
that don't have to be. As long as the food is liquid, the Liver doesn't have to digest it.
I think of it like this: The first day, the Liver says "thank you", no work today, I think I'll sleep.
The second day, the Liver looks around and goes: "Hey, this place needs a little cleaning up.
The third day, the Liver feels so rested, it cleans up a little bit more."
