Hello,
When I travel I take some shielding with me. but to buy shielding material which would enough me to shield me would cost much money. So I often use aluminium foil. But this I also cannot use often I have to buy it again and again when I travel much. But there are conductive plastics. Plastic foils which could be used for shielding would stand traveling longer I assume and do hopefully not cost as much as shielding stuff. does anybody know about this topic. Randolf |
Hello Randolf,
a solution may be those *life saving blankets.* They consist of a polyester film, which is metal coated on both sides. One side gold, the other one is silver. They are sold in most camping shops as a small pocket. Or Wall Mart. 2.20 m x 1.60 costs about 4 Euro. Be aware it cannot be sewn, because the film just rips apart. I advise using double sided tape. I call it the *poor mans shielding*. But it works. Hello, thanks for the answer. I have tried it two years ago but was not satisfied with the shielding performance. But may be I test it again. Charles,
Do these blankets tend to off-gas VOCs much? I'd like to experiment, but not if I have to let it sit for a year. (I'm more on the chemical-sensible side, with the ES being secondary.) Thanks, Emma On Sep 6, 2006, at 16:58, charles wrote: > Hello Randolf, > > a solution may be those *life saving blankets.* > They consist of a polyester film, which is metal coated on both sides. > One side gold, the other one is silver. > They are sold in most camping shops as a small pocket. Hello Emma,
no, I do not think that they will off-gas VOCs much. But I would advise you to buy just one of those blankets and try it out. I do know, that some MCS people do have trouble with metallic shieldings. As an alternative one may use a paper wallpaper. It comes from the german manufacturor Marburg. Hello Charles,

My hope is that it will help me sleep better. Many VOCs act as stimulants and can keep me awake. I'll give it a try as it's an affordable experiment. > > I do know, that some MCS people do have trouble with metallic > shieldings. > > As an alternative one may use a paper wallpaper. > It comes from the german manufacturor Marburg. > See: http://www.marburg-technic.com/index_en.php Thanks for the advice, I'll keep it in mind for when I get more permanently settled.
