new sleeping arrangement is GOOD

Patricia
i've been sleeping recently in a mylar draped
bed and my sleep has been restful and
refreshing.  i bought 30 mylar blankets for
$15.99 at amazon.com.

I'm also using them at the computer,
draped over my legs and wrapped around
my feet forwarmth, rather than to crank up
the electric heat...
much better for me to be warm where i am
than to have more emf in my space.

love, patricia

Have you measured the RF levels in your house?
If the mylar helps, this means:
1. You have some RF EMF in your house that you can do better without.
2. You react well to RF protection (not all EHS people feel good in it).
Maybe if you will measure RF in your house you will be able to find the sources or penetration points.
Then you can block the RF from coming in , even while using the Mylar you already ordered.
If you manage to do it, then you should feel better in the house.

Re: new sleeping arrangement is GOOD

Patricia
amir, it is VERY high EVERYWHERE.
everywhere here it is off the scale on
a trifield meter. the owner is an IT
guy who LOVES wifi gadgets.  i use
ethernet here in the office, which is
located maybe 50-75 feet from the
main  house.
maybe the house and the office simply
need to be grounded? but there are solar
panels and several buildings somehow
connected... i think the solar panel
system was disrupted years ago and
there has been a lot of leakage and
waste and toxicity.  i am in the office
and i turn off the breakers behind me
and on the inside wall.  very bad
electrical situation.  but much better
in my little corner of it.

Re: new sleeping arrangement is GOOD

NoRadiationForYou
Hello
Please notice that the Trifield Meter is a great meter for Magnetic and Electric Extreme Low Frequency Radiation but it's Radio mode is not sensitive enough for RF measurement.
In order to measure RF, you will need a very fast, high sampling rate and very sensitive meter.
I am guessing that what you are measuring with the TRI FIELD right now, is probably ELF magnetic field.
Even if your owner have many RF emitting devices 50 feet from your apartment,  there is still away to find where it is coming from and block some of it (The RF). The ELF from the servers them self probably would not be able to travel the 50 feet between you and them as ELF magnetic fields fades off in short distance.
I hope this info helps.

Patricia, you mentioned finding very high magnetic field (Gauss) levels with a Trifield. This is different than RF which can easily be blocked with shielding materials; low frequency magnetic fields are very hard to block and are often from the power company using the earth as a neutral (stray voltage), wiring errors in the building, dimmer switches, fluorescent lighting, power lines, HVAC systems, etc.

Mylar will often pick up the current from a high magnetic field and will discharge when touched.  I once covered a wall with Mylar and realized with a high frequency analyzer (and I think the Trifield meter will also show the discharge) that when the Mylar is touched it discharges - sometimes producing a shock.  You might consider connecting a gator clamp to the mylar (join edges of the the multi Mylar sheets together with tape) and plugging the cord into the neutral of an electric outlet to ground your Mylar.

Grounding Cord

Plug to Gator

Alligator clip on one end, 3-prong molded plug on other end. Easiest way to ground fabrics, drapes, plastics. Six feet long. Only the round lug is conneted to the wire. The 2 flat prongs are not connect to anything.
Grounding Cord, 3-prong/gator 6ft (Cat. #A295-3) ...... $8.95 add to cart

If the outlet is grounded it will be grounded still when turned off.

There is a cheaper alligator plug out there than the LessEMF one pictured which perhaps Harbor Freight carries that does not have a complete three-prong plugin on the end but rather just a single rounded connect for the ground plug in an outlet.

hi, lynne.
do you mean inside the mylar tent?
there is not an emf field in general
in my space... i have to get close to
electrical equipment to get a
measurement.  there is no wifi.
i think the worst part of this space
is the 'dirty electrticity' coming from
the electrical outlets that are
connected to the solar panels... and
maybe the outlets that are connected
to the utility company... but it is
relatively low emf here. my health is
returning.  but when i walk into a
high emf environment, i want to leave
asap.  when it's REALLY high (like
when there is an iPad or iPhone etc
nearby (within 40-60 feet),
my brain starts to swell and
i feel pressure in my head and begin
to get a headache, plus cramps, etc.
that's when i start walking away as
fast as i can... or do some detective
work and take the offending piece of
equipment out of my area.

In response to Amir :
According to what I've learned and what appears to make sense in a mathematical way, the emf, whether from low or high frequencies, will diminish with the square of the distance when the source is a point ( in practical terms : an object  ) and with the distance when the source is an endless straight line ( like a long cable ).
But I often noticed also that ELF fields seem to fade off faster.
What is going on here ? ;)

Solar panels are rather infamous for producing emf and especially dirty electricity.
The Trifield Meter is supposed to be of little use for sensitive people, at least according to its specifications.
Besides of that, it seems to give value for price given its wide and diverse frequency ranges.
Also it may be useful to measure at close proximity, as other meters get often confused when dealing with too many sources at the same time.
Personally I do not like shielded tents and such as these could block natural cosmic rays as well.
So I'd  keep the top open, and perhaps the bottom too.
A trick is to bend at the top the last bit under about 45 degrees outwards in order to reflect upward the possible radiation coming in slightly descending from the side.
For canopies and such no copper ( nor ordinary steel ) shielding is advisable since this picks up radio-waves and re-emits these.
Some people say that aluminium foil is too thin and gets penetrated somehow after a while, apart perhaps from becoming charged with ELF or with static fields.
So thick aluminium sheet or stainless steel ( sheet or mesh ) seem best to use to shield.
Then there exist theories of longitudinal waves, that would be shielded simply with cheap polyethylene foil, which may be part of the mylar material.
The idea of living in a synthetic environment is however not that appealing, although these days most houses are covered with plastic, possible of the wrong sorts, but in any case this does not seem to help to guard against the effects of emf-exposure.

In theory yes.
In case of ELF magnetic fields it fades off rather quickly. In most cases after 2 meters from an inside sources there will be no measured ELF magnetic field (some EHS people will still feel it).
But in case of RF (high frequency EMF) there is still radiation even few meters from a in house sources.
As the frequency is higher and higher, the signal will travel more distance. And since health effects exists in very low levels of RF, it will still be problematic to most people, specially EHS people.
There for I am saying there is no safety distance from RF emitting devices.
Regarding RF sources outside the house, like cell towers, what I usually see is if for example 100m away from the tower I measure 10mW/m2, 200 meters from it I will measure 5.
I hope this helps

I have found the Trifield to be very helpful.

Supposedly, Alpha Labs can add an external antenna to it for around $75 to make it more sensitive.

Thanks for your comment.
Yet, if practical results do not follow the theory, then the theory must be either wrong or not covering the whole event, or the results not correct.
Perhaps resistance or absorbance of ELF by the air or by objects plays some role.
RF may reflect more and absorb less.
I usually measure in dBm, and 10 times the distance in the countryside means normally also about - 20 dBm.
RF from cell towers is of course tricky, as these do not radiate evenly under all precise angles.
In cities measuring ain't easy of course, not even with a spectrum-analyzer and a directional antenna, and at very close distance one is not supposed to measure because both the data will be very incorrect and worse : the meters could be damaged ( i just read this, as a layman ).
I guess the greatest problem is that all common meters are as a rule pretty unreliable in some way or other, or a lot of ways.
Especially broadcast and tetra are often left out of the picture, despite specified ranges including these frequencies.
Also a mixture of many fields seems hard to handle.
I have no experience with the Trifield, a lot of people seem content with it, it's probably a good choice as a start in order to localize own sources of EMF at home.

HI
In addition to all other RF measurement limitation, the one I see that effect most the measurement, specially with slaw sampling rate meters, is the duty cycle of the signal.
An other difficulty is when there are several signals (which is usually the case).
Please see my views
on RF measurements problems - http://www.norad4u.com/monitor/professional-measurement#TOC-Radiation-measurement-and-life-in-the-real-world.-

One must remember that in RF measurements, all outcomes are partial.

P.S. Partial but if done correctly with the right meter can be very informative, can exposure sources and penetration points, can help reduce exposure and can help see that the protection steps taken are working. I could not do without a fast RF meter, just remember there are limitations.

I learned a lot in building a low emf solar system. I am sure the solar by you has normal controllers-lots of RF and dirty electricity. Also sure it has one or more inverters. Inverters make every house in the area full of dirty electricity. Also I found that the panels have to be away and not facing you.

If only people would see the light and start using some sense in what they put into the solar systems.
