I am thinking about replacing my desktop with a laptop that I can use
on battery. Has anyone tested laptops to see which ones are better? or has anyone switched from a desktop to a laptop and found it helped? my current computer set up seems to aggravate my symptoms, I wake every night (about 1:30 am )for several hours and also have stomach cramping. I am trying to figure out the cause. We've been sleeping with the breakers off for almost three months and still my sleep is not restored. The sleeping problem started 9 years ago and was intermittent (usually at most ten days a month) but I've had only two full nights sleep since we turned the power off. thank you! |

I'm not so sure I'd blame the computer on not being able to sleep nights... It'd make more sense to blame a wireless phone, wireless home alarm system, wireless internet, local cell/radio/tv towers, etc. Perhaps even a highspeed internet connection or cable TV... Marc |

Someone on this group did post something along these lines, and for some reason they felt HP was the brand to get from an ES standpoint. Here is that message: http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/eSens/message/5583 I have certainly seen variations from one laptop to the next, although I personally have found that a desktop is a better choice from an ES perspective, as you get further away from the components. I have a Dell laptop & find it much better than a desktop - quieter fans & something about those tower cpus made me sick. I just keep the wireless turned off.

HP and Gateway make laptops that use core solo
ultra low voltage CPUs (U1400, U1300 - 5 watts). I havn't tried one yet, but they are worth a look. Gateway E100N, HP NC2400. I bought an HP Turion equipped laptop which burnt me up even on the battery. So laptops are not necessarilly the best solution. You can at least get some distance from a desktop. How about a mini mac? They use a laptop CPU - lower power. Eli |

Hi
I thought I'd let you know that am doing quite well with my Mac iBook G4 which I bought from the guy at safelevel.com He shielded the components that radiate magnetic fields with mu metal for about $200 extra bucks. I can tell a big difference between using it and using my old Mac ibook. I simply don't turn on the wireless option which can sometimes pick up a neighbor's signal and am fine with that. I also put my feet on a grounded mat that I bought from lessemf.com I can last a lot longer at the computer if I do that. When I was at my most snesitive I also used the grounded gloves from lessemf, and wrapped myself in a metallic cloth, but don't need them now. All the Best! Mariann |
