how many of you have done the hair test

...by Doctors data and then interpreted the results with Andrew Cutler counting rules? I have done that twice and according to that I am both mercury and copper toxic.

I'm sorry, I'm sure most of us are.

I've had several hair tests done over the years, but they've
always been from different labs (ordered by different doctors),
so it's impossible to get trends from these.

One of these tests was the Doctors Data test that
the Cutler "counting rules" could be applied, but I
was in the "normal" range -- of course, one can
can get a false "normal" if they are taking lots of
supplements...

I mailed a hair sample to Doctor's Data a few days ago, but I don't have the results yet. I'm going to try Cutler's detox protocol, so I need a baseline. I do have reason to believe that I am suffereing the effects of mercury toxicity, and that EHS is one of them. I had ten amalgams, most of them for decades, and most of them had been removed without precautions. I also am gluten sensitive, and suffered from candidiasis and mold illness. However, there is another possible explanation for my EHS, which is the metal that is still in my mouth - a titanium implant and two gold crowns. I developed EHS months after the last three amalgams had been removed by a biological dentist. I also still have one abscessed tooth. I would hate to have the implant removed if it's the mercury in my brain that's ultimatelty the cause of my EHS. Is there any way I can tell which possible cause is more likely? There's all kinds of anecdotal evidence either way, but it would be nice to have some statistics.

You'll have to let us know how the Cutler protocol works out for
you.  I'm subscribed to their discussion groups, but I find that their
moderators and members are so biased that they lack credibility.
Also, you'll see that there are many people on those groups who
have been doing the Cutler protocol for years without much
(if any) health improvements to show for it.

Personally, I've tried the Cutler protocol for years (3?),
and have done many (100?) weekend "rounds" of alpha-lipoic
acid, but have no convincing evidence that is has done much.
I will confirm that I'm doing a bit better now than I was 3 years
ago, but that could be due to all sorts of things, not just this.

The Cutler protocol is certainly not a "quick-fix".  Someone
who is severally mercury-poisoned might expect this to take
5+ years to finish it... AFTER they've removed all of their
mercury amalgam dental fillings.

Thanks Marc, for sharing your experience. That doesn't sound very encouraging. I'm also subscribed to the frequent chelation discussion group, but I stopped following it some time ago. I don't think I'm severely poisoned since I feel very healthy when I'm not exposed to environmental toxins like mold or electrosmog. If the Cutler protocol is not very effective, what is the alternative? IV chelation with DMPS? Dr. Mercola uses this method. How risky is it really?

As with most things, "it depends".  Certainly DMPS IV's
have helped some people get better quickly.  On the
other hand, they have made some people a lot worse,
maybe even killed them, I don't know.  But I wouldn't
take that risk myself.

Some people have good experiences with chlorella,
cilantro, zeolite, ionic footbaths, etc.  Some also have
good experiences with the Cutler protocol (DMPS,DMSA,
ALA taken regularly throughout the day).
