Hi, I recently tested positive for heterozygous MTHFR. Upon research I found out that this is part of my dna and can effect folic acid metabolism. Although according to the web, many people have this and are healthy. Long story short, I was wondering if anyone else on here has tested positive for this and found other problems in connection to this, or did other tests that revealed possible causes for digestive/detox problems. If so, Iwould love to hear from you. Thanks. zil [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] |
Sue recently did a genetic profiling test which showed up a defect in her
glutathione metabolism. This certainly correlates with the way she developed MCS and then ES, and it has been improved by glutathione infusions (amongst other treatment). Just a shame we didn't know it several years earlier. The other angle is that she had been healthy for 40 years. Her other metabolic pathways were able to carry the extra load until something happened to overload them (in her case, firstly a prolonged dose of antibiotics, and later, a combination of severe stress and an SSRI intended as treatment). This may link to your first point below. The body seems to have lots of backup systems which often cope with all sorts of problems without us noticing it - including the ability to metabolise lots of hydrocarbon-type chemcials which weren't around in humankind's past. To borrow a phrase, we are "fearfully and wonderfully made"! Hi, Zil,
I haven't had the test you mention. I went to look it up and it said this was relatively common tho (44% test positive, according to the one site). I do have higher than normal levels of homocyteine sometimes when tested tho, and have a history of folic acid deficit (probably my problem is due to celiac disease, tho, as that is common for cd.) My homocysteine fluctuates quite a bit--I was told this has to do with the amount of bodily stress I am under at any given time. Higher homocysteine is also common for cd, as well as digestive and detox problems. Not saying this isyour problem; these are all relatively common problems these days due to toxin proliferation (and toxins in your food finding their way thru holes in your digestive tract--that can be caused by gluten, dairy intolerance,or proliferation of bad gut flora, such as candida, and toxic bacteria, such as fish toxins, etc.) My 2 cents, Diane --- On Sat, 3/21/09, Elizabeth Mumper <[hidden email]> wrote: From: Elizabeth Mumper <[hidden email]> Subject: [eSens] have you had these test results? I must admit I've lost track of all the tests Sue has done over the years!
However if you mean the 3-way one which includes caffeine etc, I don't think she did, because we knew by then that she was reacting very badly to caffeine (and lots of other things) so didn't dare try a challenge test. no its a blood test ian
looks at phase 1 and 2, to see how your body is detoxing the different pathways i was interested to know what that test was you had done so i can maybe look into it thanks --- In [hidden email], "Ian Kemp" <ianandsue.kemp@...> wrote: > > I must admit I've lost track of all the tests Sue has done over the years! > However if you mean the 3-way one which includes caffeine etc, I don't think > she did, because we knew by then that she was reacting very badly to > caffeine (and lots of other things) so didn't dare try a challenge test. > > Ian > > _____ > > From: [hidden email] [mailto:[hidden email]] On Behalf Of > robbojnr27 > Sent: 22 March 2009 19:04 > To: [hidden email] > Subject: [eSens] Re: have you had these test results? > > > > ian > > did she have the detox profile test > > --- In eSens@yahoogroups. <mailto:eSens%40yahoogroups.com> com, "Ian Kemp" > <ianandsue.kemp@> wrote: > > > > Sue recently did a genetic profiling test which showed up a defect in her > > glutathione metabolism. I have moderate ES, and haven't had this genetic test. My son who was originally diagnosed with an autism spectrum disorder, had genetic testing. He is MTHFR +/- or heterogenous. I used his genetic test results to help with atailored detoxification plan. Detoxification has greatly contributed to his progress.
