[esens] Sources of mercury - scary

Glenn Coleman

I didn't realize how many household product contain mercury. I think we're
out to get ourselves as human beings with all the poisons & radiation we
expose ourselves.

Glenn

WOW THIS LIST IS SCARY!!!

Is it accurate?

Dove soap? Ive been using it for years. Obviously its not listed on
the ingredients, but can anyone tell me where the merc in this product
is? Is it introduced as part of a chemical manufacturing process?
Organic ...inorganic? Anyone know?

-What ingredients or process does the merc come from in these
products..

Ajax Powder
Lysol Direct
Ivory dishwashing liquid
Joy dishwashing liquid
Comet Cleaner

Stains (e.g., Carbol-Fuchin, Gram iodine, trichrome blue, Carbol
Gentian violet, Gomori's)

Sulfuric acid (commercial grade, Hg as impurity)

-I use these stains in microbiology lab and sulfuric acid in chemlab
every other day. How much hg is in this stuff? All this new
information as well as the way I was probably poisened are making me
rethink my major!

I'd appreciate any extra info or links on this subject

Thanks,
~~Aaron

Yes, I changed all the cleansers and soaps in our household years
ago. This wasn't just because I read about it -- I was sensitive
to the smells of the chemical cleaners, and had to find natural
alternatives that didn't bother me. I just buy these at the
health food store.

Same with the microwave -- I haven't cooked anything in the
microwave for years, but I have to keep it plugged in because
my wife still uses it (you just cannot convince some people to
stop doing things which are bad for them)

I understand mercury is also used as a cleaner or whitener in the
process of making some dental floss and some paper napkins and towels.
I don't remember that source off hand. I'll see if I can dig it up. It
is best to buy as natural of a product as possible anyway.

Re: Sources of mercury - scary

Ian Kemp
Remember however that what's important is how high level the source is. There are lots of low-level sources of mercury around naturally in the atmosphere and you can't avoid them all; just like background EM radiation. Normally our bodies deal easily with small quantities of mercury. If we're run down and suffering from MCS, ES etc. then they don't. But as you'll see from other posts, I would say if you're thinking of having silver (amalgam) fillings out and you've got ME/MCS/ES, please think twice. We wish Sue had never had it done, her ES only began after the amalgam removal, and we think her body wasn't prepared to take it.

The worst enemy in a lot of these things is fear. If we all get scared of what all these different things might be doing to us, whether they are or not, the stress definitely reduces disease resistance and makes things worse. Please hang on in there everyone. Three cheers to everyone who puts in posts that make us laugh or feel more positive.

Back in 2001, I really struggled with this question -- there were
always a group of studies which said one thing, and another group
of studies which say the opposite. In some cases, I was able
to determine which side was correct based on my own experiences.
In other cases, I would merely align myself with people who
had proven themselves (to me) to be correct on similar issues.

These days however, I find that it's much easier to spot the
"correct" studies from the "incorrect". The correct studies
are usually much more thorough, well-thought out, and not
influenced by corporate interests. The incorrect studies
often have some glaring flaw in their assumptions, or really
don't have much data to back up their assertions, or appear
to be supporting (or even funded by) major corporations.

The facts are these the FDA and the ADA are all doing things
questionable to our health...mercury is one of the most toxic
substances out there, it is deadly to the body. I had mine taken out
and have gotten better ever since. You have to go after the other
illnesses in your body as well and the mercury in your soft tissue,
one good website I know is good is www.mercola.com he has a great
search engine for all kinds of topics....Debbie

Excellent point here...like the articles that the pharmacitical's
put out putting down vitamins and minerals...like you say you don't
have to look far at who has an agenda behind the article or
book...Debbie

You know, people focus on mercury here, but in my own case
I have just as much reason to believe that I also have
copper overload... in my 2001 hair mineral analyses, mercury
was shown to be high, but copper was unbelievably high! And
in a recent food/metal/chemical allergy test (using a meridian
stress assessment machine) I tested "allergic" to copper and
lead, but not to mercury. And when I read Anne Louis Gittleman's
book on copper imbalance, I saw a lot of my own symptoms and
experiences there. And of course, I assume that various
heavy metal toxicities have similar symptoms, and I've also
read that mercury poisoning causes copper overload in
some cases, but there are extra things people should be
doing if they've got a copper problem, like avoiding food
high in copper, and consuming enough copper antagonists like
zinc and sulfer.

Interesting, I just checked my heavy metal report and my copper and zinc are
also high. This may explain why I feel so much better when I consume food
loaded with sulphur.
