I have been using old mouses that needed mouse pads to work. My husband's mouse that I have been using finally quit working. He had gotten a new hp mouse that is still plugged into the computer but does not use a mouse pad. This new one immediately attacked my jaws and sinuses to where I felt that I could not breathe and the feeling of lockjaw was tremendous. My husband found a 2 and half old mouse from Logitech which does not need a mouse pad. I can still feel the same effects but not as bad.
Remember I have gotten resensitised to electricity by my neighbors' smart meters, plus I always am more sensitive when having a cold. Does anyone know a better mouse for me to use? Thanks. |

Joyce, just do some searching around on eBay -- you can find
computer mouses that still use cords, balls, and mousepads -- and they're cheap! And occasionally, you can find them new in the box! These are the kind of mice I use: http://www.ebay.com/itm/200617127084 Although you may need a USB interface to your computer? Joyce,
I find using cardboard as a mouse pad helps cut down the electric feeling. Our mouse pad didn't make it. Believe it or not I use the back of a spiral notebook. We still use a mechanical mouse w a ball. You can find mechanical mouses at a used computer store if you have one near. Call & ask 1st. Kathy [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] |

My very old Mac mouse just died, so I dug out a corded mouse I bought
many years ago, still in the package. It is a Kensington "Iridio 3 Button Optical Mouse". I read the instruction booklet, and to my horror there was a Federal Communications Commission Radio Frequency Interference Statement. It said "This equipment generates, uses and can radiate radio frequency energy...." I guess the RF is what makes it "optical". Beware. Needless to say, I need to get another Mac mouse immediately. Does anyone know if the new Mac corded mouses (mice?) have this radio frequency? Or does anyone have a source an older Mac mouse? Everyone here should probably be purchasing their computer mouses as used computer stores or eBay... I think all of the optical mouses will provoke more symptoms than the old-fashioned "ball" mouses. Yes, I can "feel" the electricity under my hand, which wasn't a
problem with the mechanical mouse. I've searched eBay and have been calling around locally to used computer dealers, but haven't had any luck in finding a USB corded mechanical mouse. (I think they must have stopped making them about 10 years ago or so?) All the new corded USB ones at Best Buy are optical, as is the Apple corded one. I seem to recall that lessemf.com has gloves. Do you think that might help? I hate wearing gloves, but.... Esther On Jan 5, 2012, at 12:05 PM, Marc Martin wrote: > > Needless to say, I need to get another Mac mouse immediately. What kind of mouse did you have before? Maybe you should be looking
for the exact same thing? But you're right, I just searched on eBay, and all of the USB apple mouses look like they are optical mice. You have to go back to the older connection style before you can find non-optical apple mice. Yes, computer mice problems should be relatively easy to solve -- at least, if you can tolerate old-fashioned mice from the 1990s! Marc |

Also, it just occurred to me that a USB mouse for Windows
should also work on a USB-equipped Mac. So the Microsoft mouse I recommended a couple days ago should also work on a Mac: http://www.ebay.com/itm/150730484877 That's a USB, mechanical (non-optical), wired mouse with 2 buttons and a scroll wheel. After calling local stores, e-mailing various places, googling "old
Apple mouse", checking e-bay, and becoming mightily discouraged, I finally ended up on wikipedia's "Apple Mouse" page. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apple_mouse It had a picture of my mouse, the little round one. Apparently is was made from 1998 for two years, and then they went to optical mice. Armed with the model number, I did a google search, and found a site that had refurbished ones. (I hope it isn't an archived page and it turns out they don't have them any more! ) I ordered four. I also found a place that has the previous Apple model, which would require that ADB (?) adaptor. I e-mailed him, and he says he also has roller ball mice @ $5.00 that aren't apple brand, but didn't specify which brand nor if they are USB. His site is all about old Mac stuff, so I don't know if his $5.00 mice are PC compatible, but if anyone is interested, I can give you his e-mail. Marc, that MS one is gone from eBay, but surely there will be others. I might have trouble using that particular model since I'm a left- handed mouser, but it's good to know they aren't optical. If you know of other non-optical ones that aren't ergonomic, please let me know. I'm pretty sure a Mac can handle them if they're USB. I'm all in favor of stockpiling and keeping my options open! That is fine to stock up on certain wired products, but what do we do when they eliminate the USB plug so we cannot use wired mice or keyboards, or take down land lines so we can't use corded phones, or take away all the analog metes so we are all stuck with smart meters, or stop making regular light bulbs so we stuck with only CFL, and so on and so on? When are we as consumers, going to stand up and demand accomodation for our disability from these companies? When will ES finally be considered a disability so we can get some accomdation or get wireless banned in public places?
40 years ago I never thought I would see a ban on smoking in public places. Let's hope it doesn't take that long to get wireless banned from public places. C. If there is a demand for older hardware, there will be a supplier. We just need to be vocal about this. This is true in a free economy. Monopolies are a different story. Apple has made a decision not to continue producing wired appliances. I will not buy anything from them if they continue with that policy.

All truths are coming out now. And this includes the truth about micro wave radiation. Just look at how many people on this site have made the connection between radiation and health issues. "An error does not become truth by reason of multiplied propagation, nor does truth become error because nobody sees it. Truth stands, even if there be no public support. It is self sustained." Gandi And think about this, there IS a huge amount of public support. It is people fighting the smart meters WHICH ARE WIRELESS RADIATION DEVICES. And once they LOWER the fcc standards on the amt of micro wave radiation levels allowed- that HAS to include ALL sources of wireless radiation, which means cell towers/phones/antennas/wifi/ ect. Whether you agree or dis agree about the smart meter issue, the fact is, its the SAME technology, the wireless technology, that people all around our country and other country's, are fighting. People are more willing to fight the smart meters because they are NOT essential- And this, my friends, is the tool/catalyst that is helping to make people aware of the dangers of all wireless technologies. "First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win." Mohandas Gandhi And one of my all time favorites: "When health is absent Wisdom cannot reveal itself, Art cannot become manifest, Strength cannot be exerted Wealth is useless, and Reason is powerless."
