cables

randolf_everywhere-3
Hello,

iHave some wires and connection cables etc for computer and so and
know that they cause me a lot of stress. I try to shield them with alufoil
but I need a lot of layers to make it work and it does sometimes not work
really. does anybody have another solution?

Hello,

for electrical cables, there are shielded cable son the market.
see f.i. www.priggen.com. or www.biologa.de

For connecting cables, like internet, I do not know.
There aluminium film is the only solution I can think of.
(You might paint them, but the cables are flexible, and I fear that the
paint will crumle)
In stead of aluminium film, you could try those *safety blankets* from
camping shops.
Those metal coated polyester films are cheap, 4 Euro for 2.20x 1.60 m.

Randolf, I haven't tried these yet so I can't vouch for their
effectiveness. But if you're looking for alternatives to simple
aluminum foil, you might try some of the ones here.

http://www.lessemf.com/wiring.html

Also, check the link for shielding fabrics. I imagine you could easily
sew a fabric sheath to shield wires. Also the fabric to drape over
monitor, CPU, etc, to further reduce stress. I believe someone else in
the group has done this with some success.

Good luck, and please keep us posted on your results.

Hello,

Hello Charles and Sara, thanks for your answer.
I have just all cables I can forgo for some time removed from the room
I stay in and stored far away. Only a few stay shielded with a lot of foil.
It is a solution which reduces stress. It just works.

The next thing I have to do with is plastics and statics.
