There is a convenience store that may be for sale within the radio quiet zone in WV. I am sending a query; the owners are aging. This may be a good opportunity for those who are sensitive from electromagnetic radiation fields.

Hi, Diane,
Do you mean in Greenbank, WV? I know some people who have looked there for properties and not found any. Is it suitable as a residence? And do you know the asking price? I can pass on the info. Thanks, Diane --- On Fri, 10/2/09, dianeschou <[hidden email]> wrote: From: dianeschou <[hidden email]> Subject: [eSens] business in the radio quiet zone To: [hidden email] Date: Friday, October 2, 2009, 10:11 PM There is a convenience store that may be for sale within the radio quiet zone in WV. Evie,
It is in Boyer, north of Green Bank, about 4 or 5 miles from NRAO (national radio astronomy observatory), where things need to be quiet. There have been people who looked, several who bought property here. Nowhere is perfect, BUT here I can have a more normal life and not live in a Faraday cage (like I had done for 5 - 6 years), and it is protected, so I have a future. I am forwarding this email to one of the owners who can answer questions such as price. Diane Schou On Oct 3, 2009, at 1:03 AM, Evie wrote: > Hi, Diane, > > Do you mean in Greenbank, WV? Very interesting! So does that mean that microwave and othen radiations are
limited near radio astronomy centres? Or would they only limit radio waves in the frequencies of interest (which would not help ESsers so much). If there is a major radiation limitation then it might be attractive for UK people to try what it is like near Jodrell Bank (Cheshire) or the Cambridge University radio laboratory (between Cambridge and Sandy). Though we have found a number of other localised places that seem surprisingly benign. Hi, Ian,
Sorry I am so late to answer this question. I don't really know the answer but I will tell you what I do know. I was going to go check this out personally last year and had my bags packed to camp out a long weekend there, but never made it. I still plan to go sometime (this area is about 5 hours away from me, so it is a day trip, essentially.) I've been in touch with several ES people who did go there and they say yes, within 3 to 15 miles (depending on who you are talking to) from the Observatory they get no symptoms! And even further than that out from the Observatory, they considered very low emf territory. What I have wondered tho is whether the Observatory itself might emit some electro-magnetic frequencies of one type or other? (Which was why I wanted to go check it out). So to your actual question.... My understanding is the ESSers I know who have visited there feel no emfs from radio, microwave, or otherwise there. But many EMSers do not know what they react to and so wouldn't necessarily know. I have read, however, that allfrequencies were limited and actually regulated there. I will let you know when I go there what I find (I am going no time soon, unfortunately.) The only downside I've heard of is that there are lots of pine trees
and some with MCS react to that. Receivers can emit due to the "local oscillator" but I imagine these guys use good shielding. Thanks Diana. I would expect that the Observatory would limit its own emf
emissions to an absolute minimum to avoid confusing the signals it is receiving. Basically, the dishes act as huge collectors of EM vaes of various frequencies from the universe, and do not need to emit anyhting. If data needed to be shipped out, this no doubt would be by cable, probably heavily shielded. Which should be good news for ESsers! Thanks, Ian,
I had wondered if this was the case. Sounds very promising! We had need to stay in our area for my husband's work. But when he retires, we have talked of looking at Greenbank, WV.
