airplane

I'm new here in this group. I want to know if I could ride on an
airplane having EHS & CHS. I got this more than a year. I have no
idea if I will be affected by high altitude and radar coming from the
terminal. My EHS & CHS somewhat receded now. Is there anyone have
experience riding on an airplane having EHS?

Yes, I've been on airplanes with severe ES. The bad parts (for
me) about airplanes were the overhead florescent lighting in
the cabin (which is usually only on during boarding and exiting),
the in-flight movie cathode ray tube monitors (if they still
have those), and the passengers next to you with their portable
laptops and portable DVD players. I don't think that there
was anything about the airplane itself or the flight that
bothered me, it was merely the nearby electronics in the
cabin.

There can magnetic fields ranging from 0-100 mG coming from different
sources (engines, wiring, appliances) depending where you sit.
Bring your guass meter in case you have a choice of seats.
The plane's own radar system will spike every few seconds into the red
on my profi II RF meter.
Bring a set of emf clothes to wear, a lead hat and silver mesh to wear
over your body. Bring Vervain so you don't kill someone and a doctor's
note stating you are going to throw up all over if there are cell
phones on.

Even though the announcements are quite clear about turning the two-way
feature off on your cell phone or laptop, there are still a lot of
special boys or ignorant asses that don't know how to turn off the
power or that feature on their cell phone. As you know, it will keep
blasting away trying to get a signal 30,000 feet in the air. And
contrary to the bull dished out about the cell phone calls on 9/11, it
won't connect to a tower and complete a call from that altitude.

Oh, and the real kicker, if you get delayed and stuck on the runway
(the call it the bullpen) inside that aluminum cabin, every mother
fu**er is going to be calling their aunt, brother, mother, son,
daughter, business associate, girlfriend, boyfriend, stock broker, and
aliens on the moon for any damn reason just to do something.

I have talked repeatedly with stewards before getting to airports,
while at the airports, before getting on the plane, on the plane, etc.
and still you are going to be trapped in a small contained environment
with cell phones.

Be prepared.

my 2 cents,
andrew

One plane I measured the fields were better in the back. I think there's
often a strobe under the wing.

Airports are bad, both wi-fi and radar, etc. And some cities are
ridiculous.

I often wear headgear (veilshield from lessEMF over a cap).

Hello

I became EHS over 18 months ago and like you was wondering what effect air travel would have on me. I flew on a 5 hour flight for a holiday about 6 months into my EHS with no problems which was great - but since then I have got sicker so i don't know how I would do now. Am going to give it a go again at the end of this month so I guess I'll soon find out

Good luck

Thanks Andrew and Marc for the information. What kind of headgear do
you wear Bruno? Is it available from the store or some kind of gadget
you put on a cap? Can I make my own veilsheild? One more question. I
want to know if there is also an effect riding from an airplane having
multiple chemical sensitivities 'cause I'm suffering also from it. Is
there some kind of chemical in the plane and atmosphere? Thanks again

Re: airplane

Veilshield is a fabric at LessEMF. You can buy a pre-made headgear from
powerwatch if you live in the UK. Here's a photo of one from sweden:

http://medias.lemonde.fr/mmpub/edt/ill/2008/04/30/v_6_ill_1040021_couv220.jpg

Try to overlap the seems by at least a couple inches.
It's actually more effective if it's farther from your skin, so leave room
for a hat or cap under it. Mine is attached to the cap and I can take it
off and put it on quickly when driving--I mainly put it one when coming near
to known microwave transmitters. I don't use it at night unless stopped
at a light because the diffraction of headlights makes it hard to see.

Re: airplane

culverpratt
Worst thing for me is the "personal screens" that apparently are being
installed in all planes as the airlines "upgrade" them -- these flat
screens are in the backs of the seats, right behind the head of the
person in that seat. Creates a high magnetic field at that proximity.

You have to get at seat in a back row to avoid this.

re chemical sensitivities: the worst thing is people's scented
products: perfume, aftershave, etc. It can be a nightmare if you are
seated next to a "fragrant" individual (whose identity is probably
very involved with the smell they have chosen to apply to themselves).
In the old days I have had to stand up and address the entire cabin
and plead to change seats -- not an enjoyable scene -- but now I would
fear to be "taken down" by security-minded staff or others... Next in
line is the jet fuel fumes while idling on the runway -- this can be
terrible.

Hi, Maujm,

I have MCS and in particular, have anaphylaxis reactions due to pesticides.  Planes are always pesticided--this is, in fact, govt mandated, so I have been told.  I have been warned not to ever fly due to this.  Carpeting and upholstering could also be problematic, not to mention odors from other passengers.  (Btw, I have been told also that all trains and boats, ships, etc, are also pesticided.)

Good luck,
Diane
