Has anyone seen the new TV show, "Better Call Saul"? One of the main characters has ES. I haven't seen it but was told that so far the ES guy has been portrayed as rational and intelligent.

This is what is written in IMDB site: "Jimmy's older brother Chuck is a name partner at one of Albuquerque's most prestigious law firms. A brilliant man of high ideals, Chuck believes that doing the right thing is the true and proper route to success. Unfortunately, an unusual illness makes it difficult for him to lead a normal life." http://www.imdb.com/character/ch0498132/bio amirb Info sites: www.norad4u.com , www.norad4u.co.il eStore sites: www.4EHSByEHS.com , www.4EHSByEHS.co.il Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/no.rad.585 YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/user/NoRadBlog English blog: http://norad4u.blogspot.com/ Hebrew blog: http://blog.tapuz.co.il/NoRad Minimize the use of cellphone and wireless devices before the use minimizes you! My father first told me about the show and mentioned that their is a character with ES. I watched a few episodes. I was really surprised. He is actually portrayed as rational and intelligent so far. They don't get everything right though. It's Hollywood what can you expect. But the fact that this condition is showing up in mainstream media is significant. Their are details that are off but the idea is their.

My mom just heard about this show from a friend at work and we've started watching season one on DVD.
It's really heavy and just amazing seeing this portrayed on TV. True not all the details are right but his performance is spot-on, right down to the light spasmatic shakes. Wow. |

I saw it last year. Glad it's sort of mainstream-at least as much as the show gets. At the end they kind of painted him badly, but at least they are not painting him too crazy. Have not watched it this year yet. Maybe next month.
I would love to get Vince Gilligan"s take and comments on this. He could be a great spokesperson for emf sensitivity. Near the end of the "Breaking Bad" series there was a scene where one of the strung out druggies was going on and on about the dangers of RF radiation. |

I've not only been watching "Better Call Saul" Seasons 1 and 2, but also listening to the insider podcasts. While it's interesting that they have an ES character, they had an episode where it was strongly implied that it was all in his head (when he was in the hospital), so the common audience belief is that the guy is paranoid/nuts.
Listening to the podcasts, one gets the impression that they meant for the character to have a real illness, but it's just a plot device for the character, and wasn't meant to raise awareness of EMF sensitivity. They didn't even realize it was a real thing when they first came up with it -- they were just looking for a reason that the character could no longer work at his job and be housebound. Or so they claim... :-) Marc |
That hospital scene worried me that it may invalidate EMF sensitivity.
Interesting to hear what the word was from the podcasts. Still they hit it somewhat spot on w/ the space blanket etc..I could not help but wonder how sick the character continues to get being in such close proximity to his neighbors houses-that does not strike me as real. It would make more sense if he was in a cabin outside Albq. After it ends I will begin watching season 2. Maybe in the upcoming weeks. |

I've seen all of season 2 of "Better Call Saul" now, and I don't think there's been any real change compared to season 1 with regards to Chuck's ES. I think they essentially leave it up to the viewer as to whether Chuck has a real condition or not.
It seems pretty clear that his brother Jimmy considers it to be real, though.... Marc |
