Hello. My name is Alicja. I have been a member of this group for quite a
while. I have benefited from the wealth of ideas and information here, and many times I have found answers to my questions by searching the archives. My sensitivity to EMF fluctuates and is tied to how toxic I am at any given time. I am also dealing with MCS. My toxicity comes from mercury in amalgams, which were removed in the most careless manner. As a result of mercury toxicity, I became more susceptible to fungal infections, and have eventually developed a fungal colony in my lungs. So I now deal with mycotoxins and mercury toxicity. I believe that EMF sensitivity is a symptom, and that it may have a variety of causes. Toxicity being mine. I will share some of the things that appear to be helping me (to a degree) in a separate post. In this one, I am asking for help. I need to spend a lot of time in front of a computer. Needless to say, there is nothing wireless or cordless in our house. The monitor I am using is incredibly old, and I will soon have to switch to a newer one, with much higher resolution, and what comes with it -- greater EMF. With the old monitor, an aluminium foil "hat" is enough to protect me. Not with the new one. I wonder if some of the members have dealt with this problem successfully, and if so, what were/are the solutions. I have seen two products: one is a screen that is put in front of the monitor and it is grounded. It steals from the clarity of the image, I suspect. Has anyone used it? The other product is a high resolution monitor with all the guts removed and enclosed in a metal box. It is somewhat costly. Has anyone tried that? Does this REALLY help? I am looking forward to your feedback. Thank you , Alicja |

Does this REALLY help? Yes, Alicia, I'm sure that there are several of us that have had to deal with the computer monitor issue. For me, I find that some monitors are bad, and some aren't so bad. I'm actually using a few year old 26" Sony HDTV set (1366 x 768 resolution), and it's not that bad. Especially if the LCD backlight is reduced from the maximum setting. Especially since I can easily read it from 3+ feet away. And especially when used with EMF protection devices (mostly from Quantum Products for the computer + monitor). Also helpful to use a triple-shielded (with ferrites on both ends) VGA cable. I recall trying a grounded screen shield many years ago, and didn't notice it helping much. Plus it degraded the picture quality. I have not tried a computer monitor with its guts put into a metal box, but I'm skeptical of that solution as well, as the monitor is still going to need some of its "guts" on the surface of the LCD panel (or maybe it's not LCD?) hi, alicja.
i have a 27" imac and the computer is in the screen. the EMF is high when i hold the meter up to it, but it lowers to ambient (room) emf as soon as i move the meter six inches away from it. even then, i sit a good three feet away from it. i just increase the font if i need to read something that has small print. love, patricia On Apr 2, 2013, at 11:34 PM, Alicja wrote: > I wonder if some of the members have dealt with this problem > successfully, and if so, what were/are the solutions. I did see while to to figure how to test what is in the house (RF,magnetic, electric) and wonder what do I have to worry about or reduce or shield.
Noticed health problems about time of getting wifi and cell phone (it felt like burned face to hold near it to use cell)) am nowing using gloves to type and use mouse and has decrease hand pain alot. Did see a veil fabric on lessefm can put over front of monitor and also wondered if help or can see well (use ctrl + alot ). have moved back, moved plug strip away from feet... need to get meters next. Have tried AM radio so far and the little meter from Amazon for $7 but not sure what its telling me.
