Yes wonderful news. Gives high hopes. Have everyone read this study, & they wouldn't want one. The Sage report is the best study, but is detailed. http://sagereports.com/smart-meter-rf/?page_id=212 Kathy To: [hidden email] From: [hidden email] U.K. Smart meters to be voluntary: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/financialservices/utilities/Business-energy/9053100/Smart-meters-for-energy-to-be-voluntary.html [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] |

Don't get too excited. Just because you may opt out of a Smart Meter on your house, but the other 6 houses on the block don't, it would appear to me that you are still getting radiated and are then no better off.

True. I live in southern california with Southern California Edison. Don't know what they will do but I do not have a smart meter while the whole neighborhood has theirs, and I can feel them. My husband said he will go ahead and pay whatever they want just so that we don't lose our analog! We'll see what happens with SCE soon.

That is true. However, from a viewpoint of forcing mandatory radiation devices to "optional' is a BIG change in corporate/gov't attitude. That is what I am focusing on here. Its the change in attitude that is important. Before we can change the "behavior" we have to change the thinking/attitude/mind set. This represents a big step in the right direction. Yes, we have more work to do, but this is a sign that what we are doing IS working. Joyce,
The CPUC just ruled that PG&E (Pacific Gas and Electric - northern CA) must allow customers to opt out from smart meters and/or must restore analog meters to those who already have smart meters and don't want them. The charge is $75 up front, and $10/mo. For those on their low income program, it's $10 up front and $5/mo. It's extortion, of course, and infuriates me no end. I hate being a participant in this criminal activity, but must put my health first so I've already called to opt out. It will help some not to have one on my bedroom wall, on this two wire house, but I also know having the rest of neighborhood smart-metered will be a disaster for me. However, at least some progress has been made, and the healthy activists are still keeping the protests going strong. I hope you get some relief with SCE. For those like me who live in apt. buildings this won't help at all. I have 4 meters outside my bedroom and if I pay to remove mine I'll still have 3 there. No way I'm paying to remove all 4 then give my neighbors $10 each every month.
I have SDGE and I assume they're going to follow the same formula Steve --- In [hidden email], Esther LeSieur <gomma@...> wrote: > > Joyce, > > The CPUC just ruled that PG&E (Pacific Gas and Electric - northern CA) > must allow customers to opt out from smart meters and/or must restore > analog meters to those who already have smart meters and don't want > them.
