Smart Meters

PickPinkFlowers
You need to get everything in writing, if you plan to sue or get involved in a lawsuit.
Customer no-service reps with utility companies can falsify records and deny what they said or what you said.
When you called, did you make it clear that you have medical reasons for needing the meter removed?   Did you say it was harming your health?  If so, and they refused to remove it, then I would get that in writing and go to a doctor who will write a letter for you.
I think people are going to have to begin class action lawsuits to get the utility companies to stop trying to strong arm people into accepting the meters.  . Josie

I told them I was ill since thew day they were installed. He said it couldnt be from the meters because they only operate a few minutes a day. I dont believe him. I emailed them first but it was a form letter and when they replied they erased my original content. I guess it was on purpose.

From that website I mentioned, it sounds like the smart meters emit
12,000 RF pulses per day.  Combine that with all of your neighbors
smart meters, and that means you are being constantly bombarded 24/7.

Unless that 12,000 number is incorrect?

Ours is every 30 seconds which is 2880 a day. There are two just for
my water meter (5760 per 24 hours) and then I have about 60 houses
around me within a 1/4 mile (345,600 pulses per day).
Could be more.

I hope it's incorrect. It would be nice if they just sent out a pulse once a month to read the meter and that was it, but they are checking usage daily. I can't imagine that getting a pulse once a day would do much for them so I think that guy blatantly lied to me.

I agree -- if it was just pulsing once per day, then it probably
wouldn't be causing anyone any problems.

Somebody suggested getting a "prepaid" meter.

I don't know anything about this, but if you do a Google search for "prepaid electric meter" you come up with a few suppliers.

Maybe your local utility company can be coaxed into letting you have one hooked up. If they won't do it, an electrician might.

A lot of the reps at the utility don't actually know how they work exactly. And they won't share it with you due to liablilty reasons anyway. We need to do the research ourselves. Loni

But doesn't the RF ride on the electric wires anyway. It has to be on and connected at all times?

I have one John. Interesting idea getting one on your own if the utility doesn't have the program. Not sure if it could work but worth a shot! Loni

I'm assuming (perhaps incorrectly?) that the RF pulses are the thing that
are causing the health problems.  And that if those pulses are happening
every 30 seconds and the meters have a transmission radius of 800 ft, that
you are being constantly bombarded by all of your neighbors meters.

However, if all of your neighbors meters only pulsed once per day, then
that wouldn't be a big deal.  Of course, once per week or once per
month would be even better.

From what I understand from an EHS engineer researching this is that they do send out a signal quite frequently througout the day signaling the utility co that there is no power outage & things are ok so I think you are correct in saying that it is every 30 seconds.

Where did you get the info on 800 feet for transmission distance?  Loni

I don't remember... I must have seen it *somewhere*... here, YouTube,
on the web... it's hard to place an actual radius on this, because
everyone probably has their own definition of when the signal has
fallen to zero.  Also, I'm sure it depends on how many houses and
trees are between you and the smart meter.

BTW, when I was searching (unsuccessfully) for wherever I got the 800
ft from, I found this letter on non-consent posted somewhere:

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
NOTICE of NON-CONSENT to install Smart Meter

Dear xxxx

Be advised that I DO NOT authorise you (xxpower companyxx) or any other entity to install the so called “Smart Meter” on my property at xxxxxxxxxxxx. You do not have my consent and therefore may not install the Smart Meter.

Furthermore be advised that the current level of radio frequency electromagnetic radiation (RF-EMR) in my home is approximately 8 microWatts per square meter (μW/m²). This measurement was the average daytime reading of radiation levels at 30 second intervals over ½ hour. The position was the front lounge room facing approximately north west. The instrument used was the RF Analyzer HFR-4 (1MHz to 10GHz). The measurement were taken on xx/xx/xx.Should you or any other entity commence a rollout of the so called Smart Meters or any other related infrastructure used for the purposes of radiofrequency communication in my neighbourhood (500 meter radius of my home) you will accept responsibility for any resulting increased level of radiation.

Should I deem it necessary to undertake any “shielding work” due to any increase in radiation levels in my home (measurements taken as described above) then xxpower companyxx will be fully responsible for the cost of the shielding work and materials.

Obviously it would be impossible to stop any increased radiation from entering my property (surrounding the house). I therefore reserve the right to hold xxpower companyxx responsible for medical costs that may be related to RF-EMR (supported by peer reviewed science).

Should a response not be received by xx/xx/xx it shall be lawfully deemed that you accept the terms and conditions of this Notice.

Yours sincerely,

It has to transmit pretty far because it goes to some receiver in the neighborhood that gathers the info. I am doing some research here which I will pass on. Loni
