SDGE Reply about number of transmissions

steve
Well, according to this email it only transmits 3 times per day or once every 8 hours. If they aren't lying to me that's not bad. They also say its only for a 5 second burst each time. However, I believe this will change and they will start transmitting more frequently next year to get a reading on electricity usage during peak hours, which they alluded to in the first email to me:

Thank you for your reply.

For Smart Meters, the electric meter power frequency electric and
magnetic field (EMF) is the same as that of a conventional electric
meter.  Your home's electric meter emits 60-Hertz power frequency
electric and magnetic fields (EMF), as do all electric appliances.
Typically, the meter's magnetic field weakens to zero over a distance of
3-4 feet.

Additionally, the Smart Meter emits an occasional low-power radio
frequency (RF) signal to communicate data for a few seconds at a time.
The RF exposure during this time is similar to that of a cellular phone.

The meter is scheduled to transmit data back to SDG&E every 8 hours.  In
a 24 hour period, that would amount to three times per day.  This takes
less than 5 seconds for the meter to transmit the data.

The Smart Meter meets the Federal Communications Commission (FCC)
guidelines.

Don't you have several doing the same thing all day?

Sometimes it does feel like torture!

Do you think you might have a sinus infection going on aggravating this?
The reason I say, is because years back a woman I became acquainted with kept having what she described as a smokey smell in her nose, that wasn't there. She has a sinus infection of some sort.
I think possibly a yeast infection as well. Can't say for sure.

I wondered about the same thing that's why I was almost looking forward to going on the antibiotic Z Pack. It not only didn't help my sinus problem but after a while my sinuses finally have started clearing a little and the smoke smell is back! Its driving me nuts.

Hi, Marc,

This brings up a question I've had....  wouldn't all these meters have to transmit at different times from one another?  Maybe what the utilities mean is the meters are "syncronized" as to not interfere with one another, in other words, "syncronized" to not transmit at the same times?
