Rules and principles of shielding

onbehalfof
I wonder if any of you can enlighten me about the rules/principles of shielding?

I understand that there can't be any gaps or slots when shielding and in effect you need to be in a sealed (shielded) unit.  But I am also confused about if you then create EMFs within this unit by using something electrical (I hardly use anything but Im reliant on an electric wheelchair).  Ive heard that this can worsen the sensitivity symptoms by creating EMFs that bounce around the room?

Also has anyone had any negative experiences of shielding whereby it reflects the bodys own EMFs back at them?

Thank you.

I am not an expert, this is just from my own testing, so take it with a grain of salt.

I have never managed to make a signal worse by adding shielding. I used my meters, and the signal never increased, it either stayed the same or became lower. I was able to shift fields from one place to another that were reflecting off the shielding, but it still didn't increase.  I think adding EM blankets over windows can never make things worse, unless you have a strong Wifi router right next to the window..

Even if you forget small gaps, the signal is still less... The more covered the better, but some can be missed and it's not horribly bad.

I don't think a wheel chair should cause any interfering issues with the shielding, but it is probably generating an electric/magnetic field when the motor is running. It may be possible to use Mu-metal to shield it, but it's expensive.

Charles has said here on many occasions that shielding will prevent the noise from dissipating during the cable run, leaving you to be exposed to it at the end.  Also, I suspect the added metal picks up stuff from the environment, which also gets transmitted to you in the end.

But I've definitely had experiences where shielding makes things noticeably worse.

To start with, you have to remember there are two kinds of shielding which we generally talk about here on this list:

1)  Microwave or RF shielding
2)  EMF shielding

Each require different materials.

For RF shielding, there are three kinds of materials to choose from:

Conductive
Reflective
Absortive

For RF shielding there are generally two kinds of shielding we discuss:

1)  Blocking windows and walls and smart meters to reduce exposure in the living areas
2)  Shielding fabrics to wear to reduce exposure to RF in the environment.

If you are in an electric wheelchair, I suggest you purchase a piece of GYRON EMF shielding material and put it over the battery of the scooter to block your EMF exposure.

If you are looking to shield yourself from RF in your living area, you first need to have access to an RF meter to determine your needs.

Let me know what you are trying to block and I will advise.
