If anyone has actuall been successfull in shielding their home from the
signal created by utility "smart" meters, I'd like to hear how you did it. And what meter you used to determine that the shielding was effective. If you can pack yhis meter in aluminium film/foil, the broadcasting can be
eliminated heavily. We have done so with some modems. The result can be measured with any HF meter. Charles,
I've been wondering the same thing about the proposed "Smart Meters" to monitor electricity use they're installing around here, also wireless. Can the signal get into the house through the wiring, if it's hooked up to the electricity? I think it may be less difficult to block whatever radiation would get inside through the air, but I'm not sure about the household wiring. Thanks! Don't let fantasy take over from common sense.
Those *smart* meters do work on a battery and transmit their signals wireless. So there is no direct contact with the mains household wiring. Hmm. I asked, I think, because in the handouts they put in people's doors, they say that (to quote, approximately) "for the safety of PowerStream Employees, your electricity will be shut off for approximately fifteen minutesduring the meter installation."
That's what led me to believe that it's attached to the house mains. What do you think about that statement? (Believe me, it would be a small fantasy, or even a relief if I knew, at least, that the meter wouldn't also pollute the house mains). Thanks!
