Maybe it isn't only electrical emissions from computers that's bothering
us...!

READING THIS BLURB IS KILLING YOU
Researchers Find Toxic Dust on Computers

Dust on the computer in front of you right now contains toxic
chemicals that can lead to long-term neurological and reproductive
health problems, according to a new study. So really, you should
stop reading this, back away from the keyboard, and go take a walk.
But for you masochists, here are the details: The study took samples
of dust from a variety of computers in a variety of locations and on
every one it found brominated flame retardants, commonly used in
electronic gadgets, televisions, carpets, and children's toys.
According to a report on the study released by the Computer Take Back
Campaign and the Clean Production Campaign -- a coalition of enviros,
scientists, and unions -- "there is no safe dose associated with
these chemicals." The European Union plans to ban some of the
chemicals, which are widely distributed -- and when we say "widely,"
we're talking about the fact that they were recently found in Arctic
polar bears -- but as yet the U.S. government has no comprehensive
plan to ban any of them.

I think the radiation aspects are probably far more damaging.
I remember several years ago, before I had figured out that
I was reacting to the radiation of the computer, I also
thought that the flame retardant in the plastics might
be the problem. Also thought it might be lead from being
in an old building, and also toxic mold! But no, it appears
to have just been plain & simple radiation...

HI Marc,

Is this EMF, EMR or VDU radiation?

My wife cannot sit near a computer for more than 20 mins - she gets to
feel really sick. They just hype me up (emf-adrenal gland link).

Funny thig is we sit her in a room with an LCD screen and a computer a
fair distance away (5 feet?) and she still has problems sitting there
for a while - she is really chemically sensitive and has Celiac (Wheat
Protein allergy) but not ES in particular..

Cheers
Pete

Hi Pete,

I didn't see the full trail of messages here, but this group is based on EMF
sensitivity or electrical sensitivity (ES) of which computers are a major
contributor to many of our problems.

Interesting that you wife has chemical sensitivity, since doctors at
Environmental Health Centre in Dallas treat ES with many of the same methods
they do chemical sensitivity. I don't have any real evidence to show how
well their treatment program works, but Dr. Rea apparently has somewhere
around 800 ES patients, and is an MD that has done double-blind studies to
prove beyond a doubt that ES is a real problem for a segment of our
population. Since many doctors don't recognize ES as a real problem, this
is very supportive.

Marc Martin (founder of this group) and this group have taught me a
tremendous amount about effective methods to reduce ES symptoms, and my life
has changed dramatically in the last month since adopting many of his
methods. I am still looking into the methods they use at the Environmental
Health Centre, but may not need their services given my positive results so
far.

Very quickly, what Marc taught me is to use EMF protection devices, major
changes in diet including supplements, and heavy metal detoxification &
mercury fillings removal to contain ES symptoms. I happen to use Pranic
Healing as another tool to manage my bioenergy systems. My symptoms have
dropped by about 50% with all the above methods and improving almost daily.
It seems I am taking back control of my bodies electrical system, rather
than letting myself be driven by EMF.

Cheers,

Glenn

It's all three. For me, computer CRT monitors were the worst,
followed closely by florescent lights. But other things, such as
laptops, LCD monitors, televisions, cellphones, headphones,
telephones, power lines, and regular light bulbs all caused me
problems when I was at my worst.

Yes, I also could not stand LCD monitors when I was at my worst.
However, now that I've improved a great deal, I can tell that they are
far easier to tolerate than large CRT monitors. But back when I was
at my worst, they seemed pretty bad, and I couldn't stand sitting in
front of one for more than 5 minutes at a time.

Chemical sensitivities are a more severe form of allergies. And ES is
similiar to chemical sensivities. They all belong to a family of
chronic problems which include chronic fatigue syndrome, fibromyalgia,
and Gulf War Syndrome. The basic, fundamental cause appears to be the
same for all of these illnesses -- nutritional deficiencies and
accumulations of environmental toxins. And the cure is also the same
-- improve your nutrition by consuming higher quality foods and
supplements, and improve your environment by reducing your exposure to
toxins. By doing this, your body will start to detoxify the
accumulated toxins, and you will start getting better.

The difficulty can be finding your way through all the marketing hype,
and finding those foods, supplements, EMF protection devices, personal
care products, air purifiers, etc., that actually do what they claim
to do!
