shezatrip63
Sorry, this was supposed to go on my first post...
please read that one, so you will understand it.

Not only is my home of the charts, I thought I could find refuge
in my nissan murano. When I turn the air on, it registers 25 Milligauss!!
On the floor? 100!!!!!
So, not only are we loosing our house...do I dump my car too???

HELP

Actually, does it really matter if there is a high EMF reading
from the car fan being on?  I don't think the EMF from motors is
very harmful, despite the reading on the meter.

It's more often the high frequency square waves ("pulsed signals")
that cause the most damage, but those frequencies come from wi-fi,
cell phones, computers, TVs, "high efficiency" electronics, etc.
Not motors.

Ever feel a refrigerator? It hurts, badly.
That's an electric motor.

I thought people mostly complained about NEW refrigerators,
which presumably have something in them in addition to
an electric motor?

But to answer your question, no, I have never noticed any
symptoms from any of the refrigerators I've owned
(although the one I have now must be 10+ years old)

I don't know if I have symptoms from my car...I just wasn't sure
why the reading is so high!
ARe there EMFs in a car? My car readings are 6 milligauss without air,
25 with air..and 100 on the floor.
Every other car I have read/is half of that.
thoughts? Is that bad for health?

sorry did not realize your locat - re your query re staying longer, that's
got to be your call, you have to do the maths.....certainly finding a place
in  your home to sleep with the lowest emf readings would be a good start.

It is likely the field being measured is not from the gasoline solid
block of iron motor, but the wiring in the car, the amperage between the
generator and the battery, and if it is a new hybrid car, then the
high-high voltage between the batteries and the 4 electrical motors on
each wheel.
Not to mention the coils in the heated seat, electrical loops and paths
through the frame, and whatever other accessory that is on.

The electrical winding in motors do create a magnetic field, that at
least for me is a definite avoid.

Just moving the fridge 6 inches from the bedroom wall may indeed make a
significant difference, but it would be better to have the bed on the
opposite wall anyway.

So what does moving the fridge from the wall 6 inches do to reduce emf's.

Hi Eli,

I can be around old fridges quite happily.  It is not the motor which bothers me.  It is likely the Energy Star pulsed electricity or non-mechanical settings which they now put on all the fridges which wigs me out.  I own an old car.  It runs by motor.  It doesn't bother me, but the new cars do.

Actually Marc,

Some fans do bother me.  It depends on whether you are sensitive to vibrations or not.

OOOPS, should have added.....

But you are right, it is likely other changes in newer cars, such as digital frequencies and wireless are the cause.

I have seen fans make magnetic fields across a wide range of distances,
12 feet to 1 foot radius. Electric fields too. The engineering and
quality of the windings are very likely to be the cause for differing
sensitivities to different motors.
I don't discount vibrations as a potential problem, look at the new
wind-turbine power generators as a nasty example regarding Very Low
Frequencies, but for little motors, I still lean toward blaming magnetic
and electric fields.

Car fans do create harmful frequencies.   i know that because Dave Stetzer told me so and also because when I was a human sensor for a time (terribly, immediately sensitive with spasms as soon as exposed), the moment a car fan was turned on I had syptoms.   Ditto for the tape deck.   I drove in a very cold, silent car in our Wisconsin winters!
