Niacin

Cheryl Griffing-2
Has anyone here had any positive experiences with using niacin? It seems to raise my mood which is a rather unusual effect for this supplement and I wonder if it has to do with E.S.

Thanks,

Cheryl

Re: Niacin

BiBrun
Seems to improve my sense of humor!

But I would only take flush-free, and maybe not every day.
It can stress the liver (at least some forms).

Nourishing traditions says how to lime corn to bring out
the natural niacin.

A Niacin flush can be used to flush out radiation from the body. I have done
this prior to ES problems as part of a health regime.

You need to build up by 50mg at a time as flushing can be quite strong, up
to 3000mg. Should take a quality multi B complex at the same time to support
the niacin. Recommend Enzymes International for this as most on the market
are synthetic.
Begin with 50 mg, do not raise level until flushings minimise or cease, then
add another 50mg to dosage and slowly keep increasing in this manner.
Should do this first thing in the morning and do a dry skin scrub all over
at the same time. Some people cannot tolerate it on an empty stomach so
gauge which way works best for you.

Cheers,
Helen

Hi Helen,

Thanks so much for the info! I will follow your instructions.

I spoke with a doctor yesterday in regards to niacin. He said that when the body reacts to the flushing a certain amount of energy is produced and that is why I feel better when I take the niacin. I have been using 500 mg. per day in divided doses. From what you just said and what he said I will reduce the dose just to what causes the minimal amount of flushing. As the flushing effect wears off as the body adjusts to the niacin he said this energizing effect will dissipate. However, you can stop taking the niacin for awhile and then restart for the same effect.

So I guess I feel better from the combined effects of the flushing out of the radiation and from the energizing effects of the flushing. I wake
up in the morning feeling like I don't want to get my chores done. Then I take enough niacin to flush and my mood changes and I have energy and am running around getting things done almost effortlessly. I feel I have really discovered something! Don't know if it will work for everyone!

Thanks again for your very interesting and informative response,

Cheryl
