New Member Checking IN

Healthgal
Hello,
I became ES living near high voltage power lines for nearly eight years after my move to Florida. A Bau-Biologist came to my home and told me two things. First he said that I am getting bombarded from the power lines especially when I sleep. He also told me to move and I did.
At present, my computer mouse is causing me great distress. I have a tremorin that hand and my whole body sometimes feels very agitated.
My computer is in a computer box that is vented outside so I don't get the fumes but I must solve this mouse problems.
I got some information from one of the goup members who told me to get a keyboard with a USB port and connect my mouse to that instead of the computer. I will do this. She also mentioned FiberOptic cable but we were talking on speaker phone and I'm not certain what to do with the cable. Any help with this matter or ES in general would be most helpful. By the way, my stove is electric and I can't use the oven to back or cook anything else. the cook top doesnt' bother me.
I'm thinking that my move to Florida wasn't such a good idea but until I can remedy that I must find a way to feel better here.
Thanks in advance for any ideas or remedies that have helped for you.
Estelle

Hi Estelle, welcome to the group.

When you say that your mouse is causing you problems, it could be that
simply trying a different mouse may help. I assume you have a mouse
with a red light on the bottom? They used to make mice with roller balls
on the bottom, and these might be easier to tolerate. But you'd need to
find one at a used computer parts store, or on eBay. Also, some problems
with computer mice are really noise from the computer propagating
to your mouse. In such a case, it's not the mouse that's the problem
but rather the computer. Using a fiber optic USB cable would certainly
solve that problem, but these are pretty expensive (around $200 for
such a cable, and at a long length like 30 feet!). Someone here has
apparently also had success with wrapping the cable around a "ferrite",
and perhaps he'll have some good instructions on exactly how to do
that. This is a much cheaper solution, as a ferrite would cost less
than $20, but you may need a mouse extension cord to wrap it around
the ferrite.

Also, if your computer has both a PS/2 port and a USB port, it's
possible (I guess) that the 2 ports might have different amounts
of RF noise, so using a mouse compatible with the better port might
be a solution.

Wow she actually recommended a fiber optic cable I though I was the first one to discover this lol

Thats great though I hope more people discover these, I feel they are probably the best solution for ES computer users.

I just found this USB fiber optic cable a few days ago which is 158$ shipped for an 18 meter cable. It was originally 166$ but theres a coupon you canfind online and they give a 5% discount. I bit the bullet and bought it. It will be here in a about a week. They have other lengths as well from 3-46meters.

here is the link

http://www.ramelectronics.net/computer-parts/computer-accessories/usb/usb-extenders/usb-fiber-optic-extender-m2100/prodM2100.html

I will try and report my experience with it after I get it.

I found that using a regular old ball mouse is less bothersome than a lasermouse. When measuring with an AM radio a laser mouse was much noisier (emits more RFI/EMI) than a ball mouse.

Buying a keyboard that you can connect to your mouse too would be a good idea. One such keyboard I know is the apple aluminum usb keyboard but I know there are many others.

Ferrites do work nicely if used correctly, they wont provide the relief a fiber optic cable will but they do take the edge off sometimes a very big edge off, In my experience.

If your interested in going the ferrite way I can provide you with some instructions and a ferrite recommendation just let me know.

You should also consider getting a surge protector with rfi filtering.

One such that I know of is the tripp lite Isobar. besides making a nice obvoiuos difference in my symptoms, I measured it with my meters and it does an excellent job at eliminating or reducing rfi between components (such as RF noise between computer and monitor) and also from emmiting it back intointo the house wiring. It also reduces some of the dirty electricity in your house wiring at the same time.

PUK replies - I purchased a infared mouse which has a separate receiver to
the mouse, and the mouse runs on a battery, however I still got problems
from this as the battery mouse emits a HF signal into the hand

PUK - you have to find some way of breaking the circuit between you and the
computer, having your hand on the mouse and the other on the keyboard or
evan same table can lead to a good circuit bening set up between you and the
computer, you then act I guess like a capacitor and start to store up alot
of the negative unnatural enery., Distance is the key or better still
abstinance.

What about covering it with something, like one of those silicone pot holders they have now? Since it's only a semiconductor, maybe that would be enough to reduce it's effect on the hand. Anyone have one, or a mitt to give it a try? "Mouse in a Mitt", lol.

I won't use those laser mice, they are nasty.
