Re: MRI

Good link.  Its about time that research be published about long term effects of MRI.
To
date, the only site I found, is those who complained feeling unwell
post MRIs. Previously health.  I have a healthy friend who suffered
dizzines and vertigo for over six months post MRI.
I also suffered nasty symptoms post MRI.  Would I have it again, NO.

My doc's wants me to get one. No way now. They'll have to except x-rays or find an alternative.

Re: MRI

Steph Smith
In reply to this post by furstc0404-2
Thanks Kathy for posting this - I am due to have an MRI in 3 weeks time which I
am seriously thinking again about having. I already had a CT scan this year on
the same area [head and neck] and didn't like that one bit - I think my reaction
to the MRI could be much worse, particularly given the fact that I will still
have some metal fillings in my mouth at the time of the scan so I really don't
think it is a good idea - I think the neurologist I saw has ordered it more for
his own peace of mind to rule out anything, when in actual fact the problems I
experience in my head and neck come on badly when I am exposed to 3G phones [not
that I can tell him this of course - could you imagine what he would write on
the notes]. What symptoms did you suffer after your MRI Furst?

best wishes

Steph

I just had an MRI of my neck & was quite sick the next day with what seemed like an intestinal virus, but not sure that it was related to the MRI. No other lasting effects.

I know this sounds weird but I felt pretty good after having a brain MRI. They even used the dye which didn't bother me either. I do react badly to the dye they use in Catscans though-I would have an MRI over a Catscan anyday.

Hi Steve

I don't like the idea of the dye being used at all - I'd imagine it would be
something I'd be very slow to detox out of my system. I asked my neurologist
about the dye and he said they wouldn't need to use it which is good but all the
same I am still very much in 2 minds about whether to have the MRI or not - at
the moment I am firmly in the "not" camp but need to make a swift decision on
this and notify the radiology centre where it is scheduled to be done in the
next day or 2. Have no idea of the reason I am going to give if they probe me as
to why I don't want the scan.Hmmnn.

BTW How is the crown doing now?

Re: MRI

Hi Steve

Sorry to hear about the effects of the dye - ouch!! that you could do without.
Sorry too to hear you are still having problems with the crown - the bite could
be a bit off so would that mean the dentist would try to grind it down a bit?
what about the unpleasant taste has that gone away???

Re: MRI

Thanks Steph,
Yes I am going to see if he can ground it down some again. I'm losing faith though. The really bad taste has gone but I still don't have the same sense of taste (although it may have something to do with my sinus issues).
This has just been a nightmare ever since the first attempt to get the new crown. This had been the good side of my mouth! The other side has my root canal tooth.

Re: MRI

steve
I will let you know. My sister is also having issues. Got a onlay on her tooth, then the tooth started bothering her so she got a root canal and the new onlay fell off. He glued it back down and it just fell off again tonight!
I honestly don't think the gold crown is giving me es issues but I did get that bad taste in my mouth but it could be from the cement. He also put vaseline on my gums-whatever you do don't let your dentist do that!

Re: MRI

Loni Rosser
I think the glue is what is concerning me the most. But I tell you I get sores in my mouth from just wearing my retainer which I guess is some kind of resin. It's a big pain in the a.........

Re: Dental Materials

Loni Rosser
I took the Clifford Reactivity Test but some say that they reacted to materials that said they were ok on the test. ????    PITA!   Loni

Re: Dental Materials

steve

I'm sure that's possible, the cement that my current dentist used tested ok but the taste threw me for a loop for awhile. I guess there are some things, like cements, that just can't be completely non reactive.
