Lowest EMF Laptop

superdrove

I can no longer tolerate my plug in keyboard, screen and mouse.  I need to go to a laptop on battery mode to get off the electrical lines.  I know that LEVENO laptops have been favorable for some on this list but that different models have different EMF levels.  I was looking at the latest model Leveno Yoga 920 Touch Screen Model # 80Y70010US.  https://www3.lenovo.com/us/en/laptops/yoga/yoga-900-series/Yoga-920-13/p/88YG9000859

It has the capability I would want, but a battery life of 8 hours instead of 10 hours because the Touch screen has wide-angle 4K display, which is something like twice as many colors and pixels as the next model down.

Has anyone with ES had problems with a touch screen computer in battery mode in terms of feeling ES symptoms?  This Levano comes with a pen (Active Pen 2) that reacts with the touch screen.  I was told the pen does not use wireless technology but is sensitive to the screen somehow.  I thought I could use the pen as a mouse to touch the screen and thereby bypass the EMF's coming from the mouse.

Do you think a touch screen computer on battery mode would be contraindicated for ES?

Do laptop computer screens emit as much EMF in battery mode as they do when plugged in?

I am suspicious of this feature:   "Includes long-range voice-activated assistant.  Meet Windows Cortana, the electronic assistant you can order around! Cortana answers questions, sets reminders, creates appointments and opens apps. The Yoga 920 can hear your voice even when standing by, from up to 4 meters away."  WTF is that and does it require wireless?  And can it be disabled?

I am very skeptical that a laptop with all these fancy features would not have excessive EMF.

Basically, anyone know what the least EMF computer or laptop is on the market at this date and time or do I have to go to an older model with less features?

I know this topic has been discussed before but now there are newer models on the market since then.  I appreciate any input or experiences.  Thanks.

My experience is that laptops are, just like macs ( except for the mini-mac ), all pretty bad because the computer sits within the device and therefore way too close.
If you want to gamble your money on one, why not gamble big and get the OLED-version of the lenovo yoga :
https://www.oled-info.com/oled-devices/laptops
And then use a mouse and an external keyboard.
OLED is considered much less of a disturbance than LED, and also much less ugly.

However a desktop at at least 10 feet distance and a monitor with an external powersupply at 3 or 4 feet distance would most probably be a much better solution emf-wise.
It is true that a laptop can run on a battery, but the 19 or 20 volt will be converted to other voltages within the machine, and this produces nasty frequencies also, maybe less but more nearby which takes away that specific benefit.
Most ideal seems to me a desktop plus monitor both running on 12 volt DC.
Or perhaps a projector instead of a monitor, i still have to figure that out.
Probably the type that hangs on the ceiling close to the screen ( or white wall ) is the best because shielding and distance are less of a problem wih these, and then of course fitted with halogen bulbs.
When we're talking about 12 volt DC, think of solar panels or little windgenerators and deep cycle batteries, and living as much as possible off the grid, having AC only in one distant corner for a freezer or washing-machine or emergencies cases etc., or not at all.

To touch it you're getting too close. I have a Lenovo T440s with FHD monitor and I am ok with it but I have to keep it 3 feet away and cover it with foil, on battery, grounded to outside ground from VGA port pin, with USB to Fiber optic converter for internet connection.

Look for a laptop that has low power usage, ULV processor, and low fan/fan hardly runs. I think the fan is the biggest problem on laptops. Use SSD of course.

The screen on mine is not very eye friendly, but wearing computer glasses, or just plain safety glasses is good enough to fix the eye issue.

Of laptops I personally have found a mid 2015 model macbook pro 15 with high spec to be some of the best laptops I have used. I can even use it with high brightness. Maybe it's because of the aluminium body? With this I can sit with it on my lap with no problems.

A dell latitude 14" 2014 model fries my hands. Also reacting a little bit to it's display.

A asus 15" x550 2015 model I have tried is good, but not as good as the macbook pro.

Otherwise you can borrow laptop or equipment from familymembers , friends or from work and try if something works out fine. And most often external keyboard and mouse are better.

If it's the radiaton from the display that's the problem you can run in high visibility mode - white or colourful text on black background then the radiaton is just a few percentage of normal.

Sorry i did not read your post properly before responding.
"I can no longer tolerate my plug in keyboard, screen and mouse."
As the primary question is wether it is the keyboard and/or the mouse and/or the monitor, this has to be determined first.
You could try only watching films while having the mouse and keyboard removed.
Or  place the monitor at say 4 meters / 13 feet distance for a few hours.
If it is truly the mouse and or keyboard that causes the most discomfort, then i still doubt that a laptop will help.
A touch screen sounds like a pretty bad idea emf-wise because of the short distances towards the monitor and computer of the laptop, worse even than a normal laptop.
You can also experiment with different mice and keyboards ( old ball-mice and cheap keyboards with high / thick keys have been suggested ) and / or modify these.

Or use an optical usb-cable to an usb-splitter in the proper way as described here :

"The Yoga 920 can hear your voice even when standing by, from up to 4 meters away."  WTF is that and does it require wireless?"
I think it only means it has a good microphone, which is what one would want in a phone with a handsfree function.
I have a mobile phone for emergencies but keep it on average at 10 feet distance when calling and never ever within 3 feet.
Same thing with my landline old fashioned home-phones, although these are much less of a disturbance of course.

Modern touch-screen technology involves electrifying the surface of the screen, so that alone is bad for many with ES.  The older touch-screen technology that used pressure seemed pretty safe in comparison.

I don't know about the Lenovo Yoga line, but I do know that there is someone on the Facebook group who really likes her Lenovo X1 Carbon, and I've also had good luck with the Lenovo ThinkPad line (although I haven't tried anything newer than the X200).

Also stay away from any i7 processors, I heard they tend to run hot, which would cause the fan to run more and result in more EMF.  It will probably depend on what you're doing, but sometimes just by going i7 the fan will run more even at idle based on what I'm reading.
