Laptop

CHELSEAPAUL
Hi all,

I am thinking of getting a laptop for the rare times I go on the internet at home.  Will be hard-wired and using a mouse so no wi-fi to worry about.  Does anyone have any information on a good one to get ES-wise?  I've heard Macbooks are bad, any advice?

Thanks

Paul

My wife's old IBM ThinkBook X40 was about as good as they get
(at least as far as my symptoms from it).  That model is
several years old though, so you'd have to buy it used.
Probably could speed it up by putting Windows 7 on it, and
maybe also an SSD hard drive.

I have not tried too many but I do agree the newer macbooks are
pretty bad, though the air models maybe not so much so.  The eeepc
with SSD is tolerable for me for short periods.  But the screen is small...
it runs on 12 volts so it's possible to run it on a lead acid battery...
