Hi all. A few months back my town went wi-fi, which co-incidentally or
not is where my problems began. I began experiencing a sunburn of type on my face from my lcd tft monitor (which I was told couldn't happen by people who saw me experience it firsthand). It's all there the stinging red face, tingling, nausea, pain behind the eyes, tightening of the forehead, bumps on my head, eye strain...all unexplainable...until I found someone with the same symptoms and problem on a forum I posted at. He directed me to electro-sensitivity.org which had a link here :D. On top of all this my town just announced they're building a cellphone tower down the block from me. Now with my situation I'm kind of lost... I'm disabled with other health problems and on a limited budget. I have limited funds but definitely need to figure out what to do as the limited cash I get comes from using my computer. I've read about monitor filtering screens (I thought I was getting a deal with my computer by getting a 19" widescreen monitor free but looking at filters they'll cost as much as the monitor should have), diodes, necklaces, filters and power strips and have no clue where to begin. I know I most likely have to do it all but can only do a piece or two at a time. Can anyone help me figure where to begin? It's much much appreciated. |

Well, for computer tolerance on a limited budget, you might as well start with the least credible (but free) option, a piece of software called "Quantum Byte", which has a 2-week free trial for people using Microsoft Windows: http://quantumproducts.com/catalog/quantum_byte.html Other free/cheap things to try -- move all electronics as far away from you as possible (purchase extension cables if necessary), try lowering the resolution of your video card output to the minimum you can get away with (800 x 600?), and turn down the backlight (LCD) or brightness (CRT) to as low as you can get away with. Also, reduce the amount of metal on your body (change in your pockets, keys, eyeglasses, dental work, etc.) I find the Quantum Products line good for reducing skin redness, and also applying some good skin lotion helps too (I use Shikai Borage Dry Skin Therapy). You should also look at antioxidants, since that redness is possibly due to free radical damage. (if you're on a budget, try eating some carrots) Marc |

Oh, and don't feel too alone on getting red/burning skin from using your computer monitor -- there are over 400 subscribers to this group, and I suspect that most of them have experienced this symptom! Some people have found ways around it and others have eliminated it entirely. The most common way to eliminate it entirely is to have a successful "heavy metal detox", but this can be a tricky / dangerous / expensive / lengthy process. Marc |

It says it's for Windows 95 to XP, will it run right under Vista? And do you set it on low or high setting to get the most out of it? I tried finding info on it but there wasn't any. I also turned down my resolution and backlighting as you suggested. Do you have a list of the ingredients on the skin therapy? I went to Shikai's site and couldn't find them listed. I have allergies to gluten, soy and corn is why I worry. Due to that I have the feeling a heavy metal detox may not be a good thing for my system but I'm still going to look into it. |

I assume that it will run just fine on Vista, but I'm using XP. > And do you set it on low or high setting to get the most out of it? Well, if you're sensitive enough to notice a difference, then you'll eventually find a setting that is not too high and not too low for your particular circumstances. It really depends based on your sensitivities and your monitor. I usually have mine set to about 3/4 to the maximum ("15"), but I also combine the Quantum Byte with some other stuff. Without the other stuff, I'd probably have it on maximum. Although note that on the first day (or even week), having it set to maximum could potentially provoke a detox reaction (fatigue and thirst, mostly). Although I see this as a good thing, because you become less skeptical about it doing anything... :-) For me, a setting of "too high" causes a rather oppressive feeling in the air. But it does eliminate my skin redness... > Do you have a list of the ingredients on the skin therapy? Yes, sometimes it is better to work on feeling better before jumping into any sort of heavy metal detox, as a heavy metal detox could potentially make you feel worse. Although there are newer products on the market which have fewer side effects for some (NDF=Natural Detox Factors, NCD= Natural Cellular Defense, OSR=Oxidative Stress Relief) Marc |

The Shikai looks safe for my allergies so far (I just need to double-check). I'm going to hold off on the detox for just a bit. I also set the software up to 3/4 and will up it a bit a day till it's maxed :D I don't know if it's the software but even my CPU is running much much cooler than usual (31 C when it usually runs 42 or 43 C) and my monitor itself is now throwing very little heat compared to before. |

I never heard it having that effect before... when I started using items from Quantum Products, I was convinced that the picture quality was better on both my computer monitor and my television set (both CRTs at the time), but I think an equally likely explanation was that it was improving my eyesight. :-) Marc |

Have you tried it yourself, or do you know somebody who has tried it? Do you know whether it is similar to the 'drugs' DMSA/DMPS ('chemicals' with two thiol-groups)? Do you have links to any websites with good information about this product? Thanks, John. |

> Have you tried it yourself, or do you know somebody who has tried it? I have not yet tried OSR, but I have read about others who have tried it, and it certainly sounds promising in terms of it really holding onto mercury and getting it out of your body, while at the same time being much more tolerable than DMSA/DMPS. How it compares to other recent mercury removers like NDF and NCD, I do not know. OSR has only been recently been made available to the public, and even so it only supposed to be available through doctors right now, and is only sold in 6-month supplies in a powdered form. However, the company has said that they will be selling OSR online within a few months, in 1-month supplies of capsules. So many people (like me) are waiting for that to happen before buying. > Do you have links to any websites with good information about this > product? Here is something to read: http://klinghardtneurobiology.com/OSRBoydHaley.pdf And here is one of the few places that appears to be breaking the rules and currently selling to the public (although that is twice the recommended price!): http://stores.homestead.com/BiopureHealingProducts/Detail.bok?no=65 Marc |
