Grounding a bed?

steve
New to this but I really feel I am sensitive to EMF, especially when I'm trying to sleep. I live in a small apt. building on the 2nd floor and the fuse box and electric and gas meters are on the 1st floor directly below my bedroom.
I am trying to figure out what to do. I have heard that there is a way to ground the bed by using this silver infused fabric under the sheets. Is there any validity to this?
I also am looking into graham-stetzer filters (I bought the Meter already).I only have 7 outlets in my apt so I don't know if I would need 7 or more of the filters. I get very high readings on the Meter at night-over 200. During the day its around 60. Not sure why the discrepancy-perhaps at night my neghbors are home and thats what causes the spike, or perhaps because I have the TV on at night and not during the day?
Anyway, any ideas would be welcome.

I would think you'd have connect the fabric to a ground source, like a
power outlet? Frankly, I would not want to be sleeping on metal (and
got some improvement from switching to a coiled-mattress to latex)

The Stetzer meter readings change quite dramatically due to whatever
noise is currently being dumped onto the power lines. A reading of
over 200 isn't too terrible -- I've seen readings a lot higher than
that in my house, and some people have seen it go off the scale
(what's the max value on that meter? 2000?). But one should try
to get it around 50 (or less).

I would not use Stetzer filters in your appt. Putting some close
to the panel (if the landlord will let you) *might* help, but also
might make the magnetic fields worse.

If there is RF coming from below you, metal foil or screening
(like aluminum window screens) under your mattress might help.
Use a generous overlap (a few inches) at foil seams.
If it's the electric field you have to then ground it. But if you
are close to the panel the main problem is magnetic fields.
A sheet of magnetic steel would help a bit (silicon steel is
preferred). Try moving the bed so your head is further away...
maybe a bunk bed or loft so you are up higher.

Re: Grounding a bed?

Really? The Stetzer filters wouldn't be good? Are there any other products I can use to clean up the electricity? Someone had recommended I put Tripplite Isobars with every outlet that uses a TV, computer, or fridge.
www.lessemf.com has sheets of fabrics they say can be used to ground beds-different materials that have silver, etc in them.
Have you grounded your bed and if so where did you get the materials?
Thanks,
Steve

I'm using Furman power strips with "linear filtering" for my concentrated
areas of electronics. These keep the readings low on my Stetzer meter.

Hi Marc,
Where did you buy the Furman Strip?
I've been going back through the archives and getting a massive headache!
You seem to know alot about this stuff so I want to ask what you recommend for protecting my apt and my bedroom and what exactly to use, also for carrying around with me if there is something good. I am so confused!
I will explain my layout if it helps:
I live in a small apt. with 7 outlets total (2 receptacles apiece).
In my bedroom I have:
1. An Outlet by my bed with nothing plugged in.
2. An Outlet by my dresser which has an air cleaner and white noise generator plugged into a surge suppressor strip. I may add an LCD TV and Pre-Amp to this outlet. Or not if this would be a EMF issue.
In my Kitchen I have:
1. An Outlet for my fridge in one receptacle and toaster oven in the other.
2. An Outlet for my microwave oven/dustbuster/sonicare charger plugged intoa strip.
In my Living Room I have:
1. An Outlet for my Cordless Phone Answering Machine and CellPhone Charger plugged into a surge suppressor strip.
2. An Outlet for my BackUPSAVR which has my Computer, Multifunction Inkjet Printer, 20 inch LCD Monitor, Cable Modem plugged in one receptacle.
The other receptacle has a APC surge suppressor strip with an Air Cleaner and electric heater plugged into it.
3. An Outlet with a Brickwall line conditioner/surge suppressor with my TV,DVD Player, VCR, and Cable Modem plugged into it. The other receptacle hasa floor lamp plugged directly into it.

The only other outlet I have is a single outlet coming out of the bathroom light that I just use for my blowdryer and electric shaver. Nothing can be plugged into this, there is no space.

I just realized I have an 8th outlet in my living room, behind the couch. This wall is right behind the head of my bed. It is one outlet with a desklamp plugged into it and nothing in the other receptacle.

Thanks for all the helpful info
Steve

Oh, I bought it online somewhere... the ones I have look like this:

http://www.furmansound.com/product.php?div=01&id=PST-8D_PRO

(they also used to sell 10-outlet versions, which is what I have)

I did confirm that these things reduce the
meter readings on the Stetzer meter, but I never really convinced
myself that they reduced my ES symptoms!

Meanwhile, the power conditioners sold by Quantum Products
*do* actually reduce my symptoms, even though I don't think
they affect the Stetzer meter. Even the cheapo 3-outlet
version helps my symptoms:

http://quantumproducts.com/catalog/quantum_power.html

Go figure. These are certainly less powerful than the
Quantum Home, although much cheaper.

You mentioned that you have a Brick Wall surge suppressor/filter?
I've got one of those as well, although again, I never
was convinced it helped my symptoms (although it
*does* look impressive!)

Looking at the stuff in your apartment, I wonder if you
can possible live without a wireless telephone, and
switch back to something with a cord on it? That might
help.

Also, if you've got any compact florescent lighting
and/or dimmer switches or 12volt halogen lights,
you might benefit from removing these and going to
regular, undimmed, incandescent lights.

I can't say that there is anything that universally works
for everyone in terms of things to carry around. Certainly
the Q-Link has gotten a lot of recommendations here lately,
although I've never found it does much for me personally.
I've had luck with a few things worn on my person -- the
Quantum Companion, Springlife Polarizers, the Mega-Chi
Pendant, and the "Personal Polarizer". All of these
things I just put in my pants pocket. My need for them
varies depending on the circumstances, my current level
of health, and whatever supplements I may be taking.

Also, the Earthcalm Resonator has sometimes been recommended,
although I find my tolerance for that is rather limited.

Thanks,
I guess it's hit or miss. I just better make sure there is a money back guarantee for this stuff

Re: Grounding a bed? KINESIOLOGY?

stephen_vandevijvere
I agree that it will be hit or miss for most of us concerning these "tools" that should lower your ES...

Last week I got a KINESIOLOGY test for a copple of things. One thing I wore like 3 years ago and wasn't good for me was negative on the kinesiology test as well. In the test I respondedwell with Orgon, Quantum and a water energizer pen from Grander.

I definitely don't think kinesiology is waterproof, but it may help inselecting...

Me? I don't use anything right now, also not at my home which is (relatively!) in a low-emf area...

In a copple of months I'm gonna start wearing/testing some tools like the Quantum, first I'm changing my diet (have been diagnosed with allergies)...

Hello Stephen,

you still did not have read everything on my homepage, didn't you ?
And certainly not the issues of *het bitje*.

Of course, you are free in trying to invent the wheel again. but that is
very costly, and you may end up with a square one.

Me? I don't use anything right now, also not at my home which is
(relatively!) in a low-emf area...

In a copple of months I'm gonna start wearing/testing some tools like the
Quantum, first I'm changing my diet (have been diagnosed with allergies)...

Stephen.

Hey, Stephen,

You can learn to do kinesiology to yourself.  I didn't know if you knew this.  It is explained in the book, "Energy Medicine", by Donna Eden(yellow edition).  You can get from a bookstore or here:

I agree that it will be hit or miss for most of us concerning these "tools" that should lower your ES...

Last week I got a KINESIOLOGY test  for a copple of things. One thing I wore like 3 years ago and wasn't good for me was negative on the kinesiology test as well. In the test I responded well with Orgon, Quantum and a water energizer pen from Grander.

I definitely don't think kinesiology is waterproof, but it may help inselecting...

Stephen.

I guess it's hit or miss. I just better make sure there is a money back guarantee for this stuff
