Fiberoptics

Healthgal
Hello,

I am electrically sensitive.  Would installing fiber  optics make thing
worse for me or better or no difference at all.  I'm  considering it because it
would save me a chunk of money each  month.

Please get back to me as soon as possible as the fiber optic  people are
coming her today.

Thank you.

Estelle

Fiber optics for what purpose?

I've heard complaints about the decoder boxes that
convert fiber optic cable TV/internet signals into
something that would be useful for your TV/computer.

I don't think the fiber optic cable itself would cause
any ES problems.

It should be advantageous, especially if you can replace
the power supply on the decoder with a linear one
(might find a compatible one at Jameco).

The next generation of computers are supposed to
have USB 3.0 which is supposed to use fiber optics.

Marc, where I live the phone company is encouraging people to  covert to
fiber optics and a significant savings monthly.  I  changed  my DSL and home
phone line, not TV.

So I was wondering if when talking on my digital cordless home  phone it
would make me more or less sensitive.

Cordless telephones are not good. They operate the same as a cell phone.
Your healthiest choice would be to use a "corded" telepone.

Well, the fiber optics are out on the street, but at some point the signal
needs to be converted to a "regular" signal so that you phone knows
what to do with it.  So that converter could cause a problem, and your
sensitivity to your phone may be the same, better, or worse (depending
on how "clean" the signal is after it is converted, and how much noise
the converter adds to your house electricity).

Digital cordless phones can be strong sources of radiation-- they can be of similar strength as mobile phones when you talk.  Even when you don't talk, the base station where you charge them is constantly sending signals.  Israel was recently warning about their potential dangers.

We tried the fiberoptic phone system from a cable tv co. for short time. They put the digital converter in your house if
you're wired underground vs.outside on  pole if not. I didn't' have meter measurements, but felt it.

I went back to reg. land line. Still using DSL.

We've been thinking about fiberoptics since it's supposed to be safer, but
I don't trust our phone co. telling me the truth.
They have built in wireless to share DVR in cable converters.
They said they can wire
separate, but. would the factory install still be in them?  Then you're stuck w the DVR converters, if bothers you.

We feel better w/o rf converter boxes.   I think some cable co.s moved more basic channels, to make you pay for the box.

I'd love to save money, but .

Kathy
