ES fact sheet / booklet?

Marc Martin
Administrator
Hi all,

Someone emailed me asking if there was such a thing
as an ES "fact sheet" or booklet. It seems to me that
there are probably some websites out there with that
sort of information... anyone remember anything specific
that might fit the bill?

Hmmm... perhaps we should write our own! :-)

Somewhere in here is a link of Shivani's that I found really good. She
even has parts highlighted if you want to go through for a quick read.

There's a fair amount of material on www.electrosensitivity.org.uk and
www.powerwatch.org.uk.

Also there's now a Wikipedia article on ES. This has to be balanced to
conform to their "NPOV" (neutral point of view) policy, so it does not go as
far as we would like! However it could be valuable for people worried
whether sources of evidence are unbiased, given that you can't believe
everything you read on the Internet!

Hello Marc,

since the problematics are so diversified, a single "fact sheet" does not
seem possible.
There are so many angles involved, and so much to be explained.

I have tried to explain the most common things, from lowfrequency to high
frequency, with a lot of reports, studies and publications.
However a lot of interesting stuff is in German.

The official guidlines are rubbish.
In order to avoid getting sick, I maintain the guidlines of the Standard
Baubiologische Messtechnik 2003.
On my website there is also an english version available for download.

Starting from http://www.milieuziektes.nl/Pagina100.html
everything is in english.

Under *het bitje* stand my e-zines.
The third row is in english.

The coming Mai issue handles (new) meters, developed and manufactured
by the first and oldest German elektrosensible man (now 79 years).
They are quite interesting for electrosensibles, because they react like
people feel with their nerve ends.

I have also placed a number of recorded sounds of modulations (under info)
in MP3 format.

power lines, transformers, etc...

canaryyuk
charles, do you have anything on power transformers and safe
distances from them for electrosensitives? I have heard mention in
passing of the distances recommmeded, i think, by powerwatch, but i
get the feeling that these are very conservative and not appropriate
guidelines for ppl as sensitive as me, though i may be wrong.

Re: power lines, transformers, etc...

Hello,

it depends on the power of the power transformer.
I found 20.000 nT against the wall, but a few meters away, it was 100 nT.
I found another one with 50.000 nT, which gave a few meters away still 6.000
nT.
And I found on the ground farther away 250 nT, but that has to do with old
cables.

The best thing is measuring with a Tesla meter.
I use always the PE-16, which is a 3D-Teslameter (From Bell, I suppose).
Just point and read.

Powerlines is another story.
If the cables hang *alone*, the magnetic field is much larger, than when the
lines are hanninh with *three together*.
With the masts, there may be stray currents through the ground.
I measured once 250 nT is a garden, some 250 meters away from the lines.

On the other hand, those air-turbines do not cause elektrosmog, because the
cables are underground and well insulated.
They may make some shwishing sounds at certain air layers.
And they may couse some interrupts of radio- and television signals, because
the wings act like a shield.
