Can anyone advise me on what folks sleep on that have ES? My doctor
says I shouldnt sleep on a mattress and box springs due to the metal coils in the mattress and the box springs. Also, the metal bed parts, such as the bed frame. He suggests an all wood bed with no metal parts and a cotton mattress. Any suggestions on where I might purchase these items and all of your thots on this subject? He says even a wire clothes hangar in my bedroom closet can cause me problems. I also have MCS, along with the ES so having a hard time finding something to sleep on. PLease advise. Thanks, Faith |

I slept on my regular bed (metal box springs and metal bed frame)
during most of my recovery. It didn't seem to bother me, as this was not nearly as bad as sitting in front of a computer monitor. When we recently moved, we bought a new bed frame, which was wood, and since it didn't need a box spring, we got rid of that too. I was glad to make these changes from an ES standpoint, but honestly it didn't make any difference in my symptoms. I believe the memory foam mattresses from "Tempurpedic" is free of metals. They probably sell wood bed frames with these, although I suspect that they are rather expensive. We got a foam mattress for Sue and took the spring mattress off - the main
body of the bed is wood (pine). We had to leave the mattress out in the garage for 2 weeks as the degassing affected Sue's MCS. She has found it helped. However, even more helpful has been turning the house power off at night. Sue now finds she can sleep on ordinary spring mattresses again if the power is off - there are not enough electric fields from outside sources for the coils to "pick up" significantly. This will vary from house to house. Also note that the preservatives in a new wood frame may contribute to MCS in some people. Often, ironically, second-hand goods that are well degassed are better than new ones! Hello
The metal parst in beds and matresses may contain heavy static magnetic fields, which may worden the electrosensibility. Some people found that by using metal free beds, they slept much better, despite mobile phone masts. The influences of elektrosmog are much wider than the known elements alone. And often it is the adding up of all components involved (lowfrequency as high frequency) that decreases the immune system. And often it is the adding up of all components involved (lowfrequency as high frequency) that decreases the immune system..... Greetings, Charles Claessens Thats the crux - The adding up of all ie a holistic exposure veiw is what most people lack if you keep your ear to the ground it does not take much to join the dots most are oblivious to the growing smog that surrounds them and their loved ones. One RF device alone maybe ok, but unfortunately we are all being exposed to new applications of this technology every day. What is the straw that breaks the camels back ? especially if you throw into the equation the interaction of chemicals and microwaves and so on. Three studies recently highlighted by Powerwatch.org ie. lookback mountain tumour clusters, egyptian study living close to mast neurophychiatric problem confirmed, 6 british cameramen all have brain tumours from same TV studio...... Go back 10 years evan and there general daily exposure was far less - Who is mapping/quantifying the bigger general daily exposure picture.. it is probably unanswerable due to many things and above all deniable plausibility plays its part - I dont know cos I either havnt enquired or have not been told etc.. Convenient for now. Paul [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] |
