I am quite familiar with this theory. And it just might be, that a better understanding of both the adrenals and the thyroid, would help many people who are experiencing difficulties taking vital minerals/supplements. :-) Lizzie To: [hidden email] From: [hidden email] Date: Mon, 14 May 2012 15:44:36 -0700 Subject: Re: Iodine for Thymus -- RE: [eSens] EMR Brain Protection > We agree the products are different. > Auto immune terminology, to me, is a misnomer. Well, maybe not, if you knew enough about it. :-) The Standard Process products use a fairly unique kind of extract that they call a "Protomorphogen" (PMG). If you have an auto-immune condition, the body will attack that specific organ, but they will also attack these PMGs. So the supplement is a "decoy" -- your body attacks the supplement, which means that it is attacking your gland less, and then that gland has a better chance of repairing itself. Drenatrophin PMG doesn't contain any adrenal hormones. Standard Process would argue that if you are taking adrenal cortex, your body is becoming dependent on the hormones in the supplement, and your gland may just shut down ("negative feedback") if you take too much of it for too long. However, if what you really need are the adrenal hormones (short term), then Standard Process has a different supplement for that -- "Adrenal Desicated". This is from the whole gland, not just the cortex, as Standard Process evidently thinks that supplying the cortex without the rest of the adrenal gland is a bad idea. But I agree that supplementing with adrenal hormones will have an immediate benefit. The issue is that you don't want to become dependent on it longterm. Marc > I'm looking for results. Lizzie,
I believe Thorne uses range free but I did notice the low dose. I was wondering if you ever felt that the 259 mg dose was too much at times? Any side effects? SP uses regular US beef organs and I do have a problem with that. I had good results with their parotid product so I figured I would give the drenatrophin a shot. Seems too weak. I know SP sells a whole adrenal product so i always had thought this was just the cortex but I could be wrong.
That Nutri-med product can only be bought direct from them I suppose? Nutricology also sells an adrenal cortex capsule from New Zealand cattle but it's no cheaper-it used to be a lot less. Marc,
You described it well, that's exactly what SP said-whole adrenal for short term use, drenatrophin pmg safe to use long term. Steve, No, I haven't had any bad side effects. Nutra does makes one called Cortex plus that is only 100mg, and has Pituitary glandular in it too. If you're concerned with too much, you could try that one. If need stronger, take 2....or 2 1/2. Those ones are tablets that can be cut in half. We did try those and found them not stronger enough. As I fully know what is in regular us beef, I WON"T put: steroids, anti biotics and hormones and god knows what they feed em...in my body. Just how I work. Makes no sense to me to try to heal the body and add more toxins. That might have been caused by the "steroids" they give regular beef. Steroids of that kind are known to cause aggressiveness. Hi, I take same as you, the Thyroid Helper (mine from wellnessresources) plus the porccine thyroid from nutra-meds for the adrenals, nutra's Cortex, or weaker dose, the Cortex Plus. *This one is less expensive- it just wasn't strong enough for us. For blood sugar dropping, which is common with ES, I added the Holy Basil Tulsi capsules from www.organicindia.com I think swanson's sells those too. I found the Holy Basil with the adrenal is a perfect combo. (and I've tried many different combo's) Because one of the many functions the adrenals do is to regulate blood sugar. They make a tea also, in many flavors, and we drink the tea too. (never was a tea drinker, but if it helps, I'll learn to be one!) Every tool I use, supplements, essential oils, ect, are as natural and pure as I can get them. I started this journey at rock bottom! Thanks,
I'm going to order the Thyroid and adrenal cortex right now. Do you take them at the same time or one in AM, one at lunch, etc? I take all of mine together. Occasionally, on very rough days, I will take a Adrenal Cortex Plus (the weaker one) in the afternoon. If really really stressed, I will take an additional Holy BAsil capsule with the above. But normally, I just take what I told you, once a day. Hi, Steve,
Not saying necessarily this is the cause of your aggression, but blood-brain barrier damage (tight-junction damage) can lead to aggression. When you take a supplement (especially) or a food, it can cross into your brain and lead to very bad spells of aggression. This is how I was first dxed with BBB damage. I got fits of aggression every time I ate a lot of eggs in one week. It is good to know if this is the cause, because you can do a lot of damage to your brain, too, if you are not aware of what is happening. There is a GABA test which a competent alternative doctor can perform to check for this. Otherwise, a medical doc will likely put you thru a bunch of scans (not too healthy). A thermogram is what is state of the art now for testing this, I am told. Also, Renatropin and Drenatropin, unless this has recently changed, are both contaminated with gluten; so these are not suitable for people on gluten-free diets. (I think you once said you were gf.) Good luck, Diane ________________________________ From: torch369 <[hidden email]> To: [hidden email] Sent: Tuesday, May 15, 2012 1:27 AM Subject: Re: Iodine for Thymus -- RE: [eSens] EMR Brain Protection Marc, You described it well, that's exactly what SP said-whole adrenal for short term use, drenatrophin pmg safe to use long term. Hi Diane,
I'm not gluten free but it's good to know. SP products are hit and miss for me, some are good, others not so much. They also use tablets with binders in them. The aggression was short lived and I tend to notice it if I take adrenals when I don't really need them. Talking the whole adrenal, not just the cortex.
