Hi everyone
I am posting this as a new thread because this came up in another thread weeks ago and I promised Patricia that I would try coconut oil and report back to the group on progress - I had been taking it in food but it had started to disagree with me so I stopped that, had a good break and then at Patricia's suggestion said I would try rubbing it onto a troublesome knee joint to reduce pain. I fell badly in January and tore a knee ligament [MCL], possibly also tore the adjoining cartilage [medical meniscus] and my kneecap has become displaced and is being held out of place by swollen tissue. I had an MRI scan on 20 June - didn't really want to have one - but needed to so that the orthopod could see exactly what was going on in the damaged structures of my knee - wouldn't recommend it - horrible procedure made all the worse when as an Esser you know what you are exposing yourself to - painful during it but man the pain after it was not what I was prepared for at all - and my knee swole up again afterwards in a way I didn't expect either so I tried the coconut oil - rubbing about a teaspoon at a time into the knee joint twice a day - the pain has diminished considerably and it is difficult not to attribute that to the coconut oil, but there is still a lot of swelling around the joint which i cannot get rid of and my movement is still very restricted - surgery has been mentioned which I really wouldn't want to have so if anyone has any ideas about how to get rid of the pockets of what seems to be fluid in a non-surgical way I am all open to them! [was thinking ot trying horsechestnut gel which they seem to use in Germany a lot for sports injuries but maybe that is only useful in acute stages not chronic stages like mine] Steph [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] |
good start, steph!
i'll report your progress to another friend who has a similar problem - only she had surgery and it made her knee worse. i have heard that most knee surgery is no better than a placebo. this was big in the news over ten years ago... http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2002/07/020712075415.htm i'd continue with the coconut oil and maybe add in some other essential oils... for instance there is a spectacular young living mix called VALOR. it is said to be a chiropractor in a bottle. PANAWAY is good for pain and contains helichrysum - an oil they use in europe for nerve regeneration. those are the two things i would look at if i had a bad knee. and it looks like you can get better prices on ebay. another possibility is UncleHarry's brand - he has one called PAINFREE that is very similar to PANAWAY - same ingredients - only UncleHarry's costs FAR less... 15ml = .5oz, i think and so i think this would be the comparison... panaway = $200/oz painfree = $24/oz and i've always been happy with UncleHarry's products. i wish you a TOTAL recovery. love, patricia On Jul 2, 2013, at 11:00 AM, Steph wrote: > Hi everyone > > I am posting this as a new thread because this came up in another thread weeks ago and I promised Patricia that I would try coconut oil and report back to the group on progress - I had been taking it in food but it had started to disagree with me so I stopped that, had a good break and then at Patricia's suggestion said I would try rubbing it onto a troublesome knee joint to reduce pain. > > I fell badly in January and tore a knee ligament [MCL], possibly also tore the adjoining cartilage [medical meniscus] and my kneecap has become displaced and is being held out of place by swollen tissue. I couldn't get this into email, so sorry it isn't ES for Steph,
but look into prolotherapy for your knee. Hi Snoshoe - I did come across prolotherapy when I was searching early on in my injury - would be better than surgery but I don't know if they do it in the UK - but depending on the results of the MRI scan I will definitely explore it as an option. Thanks for the tip

Hi Patricia
THanks for this - yes I heard that about knee surgery too and Doc Mercola posts something along those lines as well on his site - I will be avoiding surgery like the plague and will do all I can to will my knee to mend itself - it isn't painful per se at this stage it is just that there are these big swollen bulges - like pockets of fluid or swollen tissue - where they shouldn't be swelling and the movement is restricted - I can walk ok - i cannot run and cannot squat or hunker down so what I am looking for is something to get that swelling to go away - do you think those products would help with that? best wishes Steph ________________________________ From: Patricia Robinett <[hidden email]> To: [hidden email]; [hidden email] Sent: Tuesday, 2 July 2013, 18:42 Subject: [eSens] Re: COCONUT OIL + MRI SCAN good start, steph! i'll report your progress to another friend who has a similar problem - only she had surgery and it made her knee worse. i have heard that most knee surgery is no better than a placebo. this was big in the news over ten years ago... http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2002/07/020712075415.htm i'd continue with the coconut oil and maybe add in some other essential oils... for instance there is a spectacular young living mix called VALOR. it is said to be a chiropractor in a bottle. Zheng gu shui is a very popular remedy for traumatic injuries.
Just Google "zheng gu shui". --- In [hidden email], Stephanie Smith <reader41@...> wrote: > > Hi everyone > > I am posting this as a new thread because this came up in another thread weeks ago and I promised Patricia that I would try coconut oil and report back to the group on progress - I had been taking it in food but it had started to disagree with me so I stopped that, had a good break and then at Patricia's suggestion said I would try rubbing it onto a troublesome knee joint to reduce pain. > > I fell badly in January and tore a knee ligament [MCL], possibly also tore the adjoining cartilage [medical meniscus] and my kneecap has become displaced and is being held out of place by swollen tissue. Hi
Are you familiar with CranioSacral Therapy? If you can find an extraordinary practitioner in your area, it is worth trying. Or, you might look for excellent energy/body workers, such as Reiki or Pranic Healing, and consider that. The best Craniosacral therapist would be one with a background in physical therapy. Search practitioners at www.upledger.com I injured my knee and a bunch of other stuff (including my head) in separate accidents. I fell on my knee on uneven blacktop, and then later had a car accident which injured the same knee again. I felt like the kneecap was out of alignment. It was. I've had much work done by my CSTherapist which has been very helpful. I also had healing sessions from a Reconnective Healing practitioner (Eric Pearl work). This was very helpful also. I cannot explain this work. It makes no sense, even to me, and I'm up for woo woo stuff. But it was helpful. My knee isn't totally healed, but much improved. It does hurt more with EMF stuff. I find that EMF stuff really exacerbates pain and problem areas in the body. I also once attended a seminar by Eric Pearl. When he walked by me, I could feel a strong energy field coming off him. I think that might be the first & last time I've ever felt such a strong field coming off of a person. (I'm assuming it was coming from him -- maybe he was just wearing a strong EMF protection device!) Marc |

And if you're looking for things to try, I'd suggest trying some organic silica gel: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0028MC0XS/ Just rub it on your knee a couple times a day. If you read up on this stuff, it almost sounds too good to be true (meaning it might very well be). I recently bought a tube of this to experiment with, and I can confirm that this is powerful stuff -- so much so that it has provoked a detox reaction in me (it is said to eliminate aluminum from the body). And this is the article that convinced me to try some: http://www.harvesthaven.com/health_aids/g5inventor.htm Marc |
I'm having terrible knee pain since last night. i just ordered the tube on amazon, will let you know if it worked.

Hi Marc and Steve
I recently got some good news that I am not going to need surgery and the pain in my knee is much reduced - altho still there depending on if I aggravate it - and will resolve over time with a physio regime - mind you I am still using the coconut oil from time to time when it is painful and an olive oil mix with some essential oils which also help. I also got great benefit from eating fresh pineapple [tried Bromleain supps but they didn't agree with me] and blueberries and other mixed berries - the bioflavonoids in them help to reduce inflammation. I have read about silica but haven't tried it - thanks for the article Marc - will look it up - I had no idea that there would be a detox reaction with it so my gut instinct steering me away from it must have been the right thing after all since excruciating knee pain [on top of the ME and ES] and a detox reaction would have been more than I could have coped with. Hi Steph,
I've just joined the group, so hope this post works :-) I've found bathing in a mixture of Himalayan salt crystals and epsom salts helpful for many of my ES symptoms, and also for swollen knees. Then about 6 weeks ago I fell and badly twisted my ankle. I used about 500g salt and about 250g Epsom salt in my bath daily for 3 or 4 days. This seemed to really help reduce the swelling and also seemed to help with the pain and bruising (from my entire foot from toes to ankle). I'm not aware of any potential downsides to this, so might be worth trying. :-) Hope you get some relief soon, Pat |
Hi Pat
You are lucky this mix works for you - unfortunately I doubt it would work for me without causing unpleasant and unwanted side effects. I did try epsom salts early on in my injury - at a very low dose - and while initially I found them helping my knee after a couple of baths they had a very unpleasant effect on my entire system - I did a bit of research which seemed to suggest that my system was sensitive to sulphate and couldn't detox it - I prob haven't explained that very well but suffice to say - and mores the pity - Epsom salts are nor for me - but thanks for the advice though.
