Not looking for a cell phone booster, but a simple passive cell phone antenna than can mount externally to any automobile that will shut off all the internal antennas to any comparable smart phone like Apple's Iphone4 to help reduce microwave exposure.
I don't keep or own a cell phone but girlfriend likes to keep her I-phone on (full power) while we take road trips together. She's open to the idea of using an external antenna, that works with an Iphone or a comparable cell phone that has the external antenna accessory option, to help me feel more comfortable on our trips, any suggestions on makes and models? Also, how unhealthy to be inside a car, while driving on the interstate, with windows up with an Iphone on full power running multiply applications including GPS? I'm guessing this e-s forum hyperlink is still accurate to my question on safety? http://es-forum.com/Cell-phone-RISKS-td1538247.html By the way, I’m new to the ES-Forums, but I’m here because I consider myself with “es” (starting to notice some of the symptoms on myself) & I don’t agree with Tom Wheeler (FCC Chairman) and the wireless movement that continues to get worse. |

Thanks for that hyperlink Fog Top.
According to the website, from create healthy homes, LG Ally VS740 Android Phone (came out 2010) is a smart phone, has to option to use an external cell phone antenna, perfect enough for me. However, I need to play devil's advocate for her sake, "Anything newer &/or closer to what a Iphone 4 can do"? |

Of course, many people with hypersensitivities react to smart phones in Airplane mode, with all cell signals and wi-fi turned off. So an external antenna won't help those people, because they are reacting to the touchscreen technology, the CPU, the power management, etc.

I guess it depends on how much data that phone is sending back and forth, and at what rate, and how far away are the towers? Because if the phone isn't doing much at all, or doing it slowly, or to a nearby tower, it's not as bad as when the phone is doing a lot, quickly, to a distant tower. Marc |

Quotes about why using a cell phone inside a car is dangerous (indicating that an outside vehicle antenna would lessen the effects): Amy Worthington: "....A cell phone must greatly increase its field strength to maintain communications within the metallic cage of an auto. Thus, the effect of microwave radiation inside a vehicle is especially intense.
Volkswagen of Europe has warned that cell phone usage inside a car can be "injurious to health due to the extremely high electromagnetic fields generated."
https://www.rfsafe.com/cell-phones-increase-rf-radiation-output-inside-vehicles-faraday-effect/ "...your vehicle can act as a Faraday cage and concentrating reflector, amplifying RF wave density like a microwave oven, not letting the RF radiation escape through the metal body and tinted glass, and then concentrating the microwaves into your body at much higher EM intensities. It’s highly recommended you use antenna kit or car kit to wave guide (transport) the RF Radiation outside the vehicle to prevent amplification of the microwave effect
Oram Miller 'Create Healthy Homes' Steps to Protect Yourself from Cell Phone Harmful Cell Phone Frequencies: "... When in the car, use a roof-mounted external antenna, available from WPSAntennas. Make sure your cell phone has a jack for an external antenna. If you have one, the jack will be located on the back of the phone near the base of the antenna, under the back cover. Be aware that newer cell phones usually do not have these jacks. You may need to purchase a refurbished model. See below for a much more detailed explanation of how to use cell phones safely inside cars. To read a separate article on cell phone use in cars, click here.
