Hello Everyone:
I am writing this post on behalf of my mother, who has suffered with extreme electrosensitivity for nearly a decade. Her sensitivity was triggered by mold exposure in 2007 and escalated quickly in severity. She suffered from tremors, constant extreme muscle tension (head and neck especially) and could not bear to be around the usual suspects--wifi, towers, televisions, microwaves, cell phones, even the toaster. Anything plugged in caused her overwhelming pain. Due to the stigma and essential isolation she became depressed, eventually attempting suicide in 2010. I only give her background so that I can fully emphasize what I’ve witnessed. Her case was debilitating. She spent time at an environmental hospital and was told she was one of the worst cases ever documented. As her daughter I have been researching, and although I am not religious, praying for something to help her for years. My next important point is that I am NOT selling anything, nor will I suggest any certain product in order to avoid that impression. I only want to help you all and hope that you will see this for what this is--a piece of information that may greatly change your lives, or very well may not. I recently moved to Denver, Colorado. As you inevitably are aware, both medical and recreational marijuana are legal in this state. I’d been trying to get my mom to try marijuana for her symptoms for years. She has an understandable aversion to smoking, so it never happened. I also did not want to give her anything which might make her “trip” or become paranoid. This is where cannabidiol (CBD) comes into play. Cannabis is a complex plant, but the two main components are CBD and THC. Put simply, THC makes a person high. CBD, on the other hand, does not. CBD and THC work together synergistically to create some of the most positive effects of the plant--relaxation, pain relief, anti-anxiety. Perhaps you all have heard about cbd and its neurological effects. I’ll leave these links for those of you who may doubt its potential to treat certain neurological conditions: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4707667/ http://www.courant.com/features/hc-mommy-minute-0118-20160114-story.html After doing some research, I decided that a strong CBD-based cannabis product might be worth trying for my mother. Again I want to emphasize that the goal of marijuana products which are high in CBD and low in THC is NOT to get high or stoned, but to potentially treat various physical and psychological symptoms. In short, my mother came to stay with me in Denver and tried her first tablet. This product contains 5 mg of CBD and 0.33 mg of THC. A few hours after the dose, her muscles were almost completely relaxed. This is a woman who had suffered from a rock-hard stiff neck/shoulder condition for literally a decade. A woman who had to take 12 ibuprofen per day. A woman who had to schedule days of recovery following simple outings because of electrical exposure. She continued to take her one little pill each morning, and saw extraordinary improvements every day. She could no longer feel the wifi. She mowed the lawn. She went to the movies. She painted my kitchen! Her sensitivity to smells, and more importantly to electricity, seemed to have been REVERSED. Excuse the capitalization, but I can hardly contain my excitement. Folks, my mom has her life back. It’s only been a couple weeks but these results are astounding. I am cautious of getting too optimistic, but it’s hard not to. Of course everyone’s situation is different--but if this helps even one of you I will be overjoyed. Keep in mind that she had tried everything to feel better, to have the active and productive life she had mourned for a decade. So, now the tricky part: legality. Twenty-four states in the U.S allow medical marijuana. Only four allow recreational. Of course I am not advocating anything illegal. I also want to warn you all that there are some online companies selling “cbd hemp oil.” This cbd is extracted from a hemp plant, not a cannabis plant, and this is why it is legal. These hemp oils very well may be fake, or even harmful. If anything they are almost certainly a ripoff. Please don’t take these. It’s important that whatever CBD product you try comes from a legitimate dispensary in a legal state. Any feedback from you all is appreciated. Again, I hope this information shows you that there is hope. I do apologize if this is already a known treatment, as I have found no anecdotes regarding electrosensitivity and cbd. |
Thank you for this post. I suffer from EHS and my husband has been suggesting this for years. I had tried it a few times and didn't like it but maybe a strain like the one you are suggesting (low in THC) would be better for me. It's not legal where I live now (Texas) but we have considered moving to somewhere where it is even if that's Canada. I am glad it's helping your mom and that she is doing better. I totally understand, even just going out for a few hours can take a few days of rest to recover from.

Hi SuperLaura:
Thank you for the response, and I am sorry that you have not had such luck. I would certainly suggest something high in cbd with a very low amount of thc. In my experience and opinion, high thc in itself can cause certain stresses, so it's important that the focus is on cbd instead. In my understanding, the cbd and thc need to work in concert with each other to be effective---but the amount of thc can be very, very low (non-psychoactive amounts) and still lend its helping hand to the cbd. It's complex but also exciting. It is unfortunate you cannot get your hands on it in Texas. I know that for my mom it has been so life-changing that it would warrant a major move. |

That's great that you've had success with CBD oil! We've tried this out for our dog, which is suffering a neurological decline, but the dog continues to decline, so I would say that either it's not working or we're not using it properly.
Others have reported benefits from using Lion's Mane mushroom, which is also supposed to be useful for neurological decline, and is easier to obtain. Marc |

What brand was the CBD Pill?
I have found CBD in caramel form for my mom (Cheba Chews)but don't see a pill here in SoCal. The Chews help her with appetite and helped when she fell and hurt her back |

Marc-- thanks for the tip. I'll check out Lion's Mane Mushroom. Was your cbd oil from a reputable dispensary?

Hi Steve--
The tablets are from a company called Stratos, based out of Colorado. Perhaps they can ship to you since you're in a legal state? My mom takes them sublingually and they work nearly instantly. They have different ratios of cbd:thc in the pills. She takes the 15:1 cbd:thc formulation. |

I'm sure it was... it's all legal and regulated here in Washington state.

Oh, gotcha. I'm sorry to hear it didn't work!
By the way, thank you for maintaining this forum. My mom is really thrilled to be communicating with others (via me :) ) with similar experiences. |

Thanks, I'm going to look into it

No problem! I hope it helps.

I'm in the Denver area. Where were you getting those? I have to admit to having been curious about this for a long, long time but the risk of fluid-buildup-in-the-lungs had always scared me off (I have asthma and it kind of does that anyway) and tinctures just seem way too strong.

I believe Stratos products are stocked in several places around Denver. The dispensary I am aware of is called The Giving Tree. They have a few locations.

Looks like they're in the process of setting up a CBD-only mailing service, which would be great - my skin and lungs are like a sponge especially with my blood brain barrier shot; I would be high within seconds of just stepping into one of those stores! thanks
|
wonder if they will send to California? I also wonder what all of the ingredients are. The Cheba Chew CBD has corn syrup in it
|
Steve-
Perhaps you can contact them via their webpage and see if they will ship to you? http://stratosthc.com/ The ingredients, as listed on the label (this is for the entire bottle of 30 pills): CBD: 150.9 mg, THC: 8.0 mg, CBN: 0.0 mg, RSD 0%, CO2 extract, alcohol, cellulose, lactose, sodium starch glycotate, colloidal silicon dioxide, magnesium stearate. 404R-00114, 403R-000 8, D1096 It also states the product has complied with contaminant screening laws. Honestly, I am not a scientific person and those ingredients, aside from the cannabis extracts, don't mean much to me. All I know is that my mom is hyper-sensitive to basically everything and has had great results. I hope it ends up helping or at least leads you to avenues of help. |

April: yes, it looks like they are trying to get a shipping service started. Maybe you can contact them and see if they will ship.
Either way, I wish you the best and hope you can find something that helps. |

Thanks for the ingredient list. I wonder if the last 3 are artificial colorings. I'll try and email them
