From ye olde "Natural Hygiene" health info, I heard that:

The more hours of sleep BEFORE midnight, the better.

So "hit the hay" as early as possible, 8-9-10pm.

I can't remember the associated specific reason for that statement, but compare that with the alleged three 8-hour body cycles in a 24-hour period:

__Noon - 8pm:  "Appropriation":  All eating (intake) should be done during this cycle.

__8pm - 4am:  "Assimilation":  During this cycle the body is taking all the nutrients from the food during the prior cycle & assimilating it into the cells & body systems.

__4am - Noon:  Elimination cycle (detox) during which the body is filtering out & unloading metabolic & cellular waste & toxins via the liver, skin, lungs/breath, eyes, ears, bladder, bowels, etc.
--Have read from various non-Natural Hygiene sources that 3am is allegedly the time of night the liver kicks-in to begin its deepest-cleaning.  To be in a good deep sleep during that time would seem very beneficial.
--No intake/food should be taken until Noon, or it will interrupt/stop the Detox cycle & the body has to switch to Digestion mode.
--But if you must eat before Noon, word is to let it be high-water-content juicy-fruits, the easiest food for the body to Digest.

One article here re the cycles but there are many others (& probably just as many more that say Natural Hygiene is all bunk, etc.):

noon is a vague term ( as are a.m and p.m. ), it depends on where you live and even often on the season ( the latter being totally ridiculous and annoying ).
it makes sense to recalculate " noon " first to the moment when the sun is straight in the south ( or north below the equator ) before working with it.
anyway, i doubt it is healthy to eat shortly before going to bed, since digestion slows down during sleep and more rotting will occur then.
if you hit the hay at 9 ( likely not a bad idea ), then it seems wise not to eat after 5 and no heavy meals ( like animal products ) after 1.
but do as feels best, there are so many conflicting theories and recommendations out there that we are thrown back at where we were : we need to find out ourselves what is healthy.

From experience, 9:30PM and absolutely no later than 10PM. Huge benefits from doing that.. but it's soo impossible to do :/..
