Do you have a link to the Greenpeace
ratings for EMF emissions and chemicals?

Cell Tower Map of Mexico?

C.a.b. Johnson
In reply to this post by ahappyhabitat
Hi folks,

I have a travel question.  I am going to Mexico and I need to find out where the cell towers are so I can figure out what hotel to stay in.  But, I cannot  find a cell tower locator map for Mexico.  In the U.S. we have antennasearch.com.  Does anyone know if there is site like that for Mexico?  I will be in Mexico Citiy for a week and then in S. Mexico.  Never been to Mexico before, but all the Hotels I looked at have Wi-FI so I assume the city is a microwave jungle as well.

I had a horrible time on a recent trip to Los Angeles and southern California.   What a nightmare that area is for cell towers.  I specifically called every hotel beforehand to ask if they had a cell tower on or near the building.  Most hotels wee exposed as shown by antennaseach.com. But I found out that you cannot rely on desk clerks to know anything - they are generally clueless about cell towers.

The desk clerk at the Bayview Marriot in Newport Beach, CA said they did not have one nearby.  Well lo and behold, when I got there, they put me in a room directly below a cell antenna that were on the roof of that hotel.  The room was so hot, as shown by the RH detector I brought with me, that I asked to be relocated to another room. But out of 5 more rooms they showed me all were on fire and I was forced to take the least contaminated room and put up shielding fabrics in the windows and over my blankets.  What a nightmare.  That also happened in two other hotels I stayed at in S. CA. I  tried to get a refund but they wouldn't.

You might try a pc repair shop, ask if they have any old laptops people decided they didn't want, that could be updated to what you need.

That's how I got mine, kinda lucked out. It's an older Dell, but had a new ?harddrive and Win7 installed. I had them yank out the wifi card totally. It does still have a pretty good emf field, known by radio reception and trifield, but it's not any worse than a tolerable pc, and no smells, cheaper too.

I thought I should mention the eeePC; I've tried the 1000 series, w SSD
disk installed.  There is software that keeps the fan off, which is better.
The screen is kind of small (for viewing at distance w/
external keyboard and mouse) , and I'm not saying you won't have symptoms.
But I can use it for a little while at least.  Fit-pc I actually reacted
to pretty quickly, though I know someone else who's sensitive and uses it
from a long distance, with shielding.

Re: Cell Tower Map of Mexico?

Hi folks,

Nobody responded to my question about a CELL TOWER LOCATOR MAP for Mexico.  So I have been spending time I don't have Googling around and all I came up with so far is the Google Maps site: http://opensignalmaps.com/ which is pretty good for locating cell towers World-Wide. I am sure some of the people on this list who are not from the U.S, have sites for locating cell towers in their own countries.  'What sites do international list members use to locate cell towers?  Looks like my trip to Mexico is going to be a nightmare.

There is also a site that locates Wi-Fi Hotspots World-Wide: www.jiwire.com
Here is a site that locates FREE Wi-Fi Hotspots:  http://www.openwifispots.com/

Hi Eli,

Here's the latest link for the Greenpeace ratings:  http://www.greenpeace.org/international/en/campaigns/climate-change/cool-it/Guide-to-Greener-Electronics/

Thanks for the info about metering. I have a TriField meter too. It was a good starting point, and it gives fairly good results I think, except for the RF range. For RF I got an Acoustimeter and have been very happy with it, although it was spendy.  I may look for a lower frequency Gigahertz Solutions meter at some point too...

Tim
