Cannabis as superfood

gjohnson
I have been EHS for over 30 years and MCS for over 70 years. The MCS is
such that most prescription drugs, OTC drugs, supplements, vitamins,
etc. just do not work for me, at least in normal dosages. That means I
have to get my medication from food. I saw something on the Internet
that cannabis might be the next superfood, so decided to try it. In
Colorado, where I live, it is legal to have 12 plants for personal use.
Standard wisdom is that cannabis must be heated (smoked or baked) to
activate the THC that makes one high. I have never smoked a joint, and
am not interested in starting, so I have been testing the affects of
eating cannabis uncooked. I have tried eating the leaves like kale
(tastes awful, burns mouth), dried and powdered (in a little water like
Metamucil, or hidden in a sandwich), cold brewed tea, seeds (unchewed),
and fermented with other vegetables. Side effects from excessive dosage
include depression, chest pain, change in gait, and sometimes feeling
really good! The interesting thing is that my chronic lower back pain is
substantially better, and also my EHS. I have no idea what fraction of
EHS folk would improve by eating uncooked cannabis, but if one were able
to acquire a few seeds from a pothead buddy and plant a few plants
behind the tomatoes, at a modest cost, it might be worth a try. A
detailed account of my saga can be found at my website,
www.emsri.org/Superfood2.pdf.

I personally do not do well with THC, although I know that many people do. Someone told me that the young pot leaves are good steamed and contain no THC, so I tried some. I got a bad headache and felt awful, like a crappy psychedelic trip, and I pretty much just had to go to bed. Now, I just feed the extra weed leaves to the goats. :)

I think it is correct to say that the chemistry of cannabis changes with temperature. THCa changes to THC, CBDa changes to CBD, etc. I can sense a difference between cold brewed cannabis tea and warm brewed (150 F). Warm brewed for me does not work. Steaming at around 200 F could easily change chemistry enough for a sensitive to feel bad. In my case the raw fresh leaves burn my mouth, but fermented (like sauerkraut) or dried are eatable.

You're better off consuming an edible from a legal dispensary since the dosage will be standardized and it will be safe.
Cheebachews and Sensichew are both good. Start off with 1/2 a dose and see how you do.
I have MCS as well

Edibles have been heated, therefore have THC, which I do not want. Dispensaries do not sell a raw/unheated edible (except for the buds, of course).
