zinc and white marks on nails

I for the first time (these last few months) ever have had a white fleck on one of my nails, commonly associated with a zinc deficiency.

I googled zinc and myelin (myelin damage being one of my favourite theories re ES) and saw that it was a vital part of myelin.

So whilst some say the zinc deficiency cause is a myth (and others say it can also be calcium, etc), I was wondering whether anybody else had such white flecks on the nails?

I have had them before, but my nails look fine, as far as spots.  My doctor had looked at my nails and said that the lines going through the nails means that I am not absorbing nutrients. Do you have them?

Zinc is definitely an important mineral, for a long list of functions. Also for making stomach acid (Tennant links not making enough stomach acid directly with allergies).

Imo it's always difficult to find out what minerals you're low on.

The methods that may be worthwhile imo are:

1. Kinesiology

2. Drinking water+mineral and if it tastes sweet you're deficient on that mineral (recommended by Tennant)

I get those easily if I haven't been taking zinc for a while, and taking it always makes them go away as the nail grows out and new comes in.

The white from too much, or laid down in the wrong place for calcium makes the whole of the nail look a light white, not the opaqueness of the zinc deficiency spots.
