wifi

jim64m
I am currently a guidance counselor in a school building that doesn't have wifi. next year I will be in a building that has wifi. When i go into the new building I get my usual ES symptoms. Any recommendations to combat this?maybe some shielding products etc.

Are you primarily interested in protecting your office, or everywhere
you go in the school?

There are many shielding garments available. See
http://www.lessemf.com/personal.html for example. But keep in mind:
1- it may be something other than (or in addition to) wi-fi that is causing
your symptoms
2- what part of your body should you shield? Head? Spinal cord? Skin? It is
not clear at all that, for example, ES symptoms in the head are caused only
by microwaves to the head.

Sorry if this sounds silly, but do you know some key person in the school
that you could confide in and explain your difficulty, and arrange to be
based in a building without wifi instead? The snag with shielding garments
is that it's difficult to make them fully effective and they could look
rather odd .... On the other hand, wearing them might be a way of getting
the message across about ES; but since most people are still pretty
sceptical about it, you have to decide what would help your credibility
most. It's frustrating when you've obviously done so well in holding down a
job despite the symptoms.

Good luck - Ian

paul uk replies - I presume that you have kept your ES quiet ? you do
have rights to push for an environment that you can safely and comfortably work
in, but it will only be established if you come out of the closet - now
this will as you can predict bring on a whole host of challenges to you and
your employer, for me its always been the devil you do the devil you dont.
Evan if your employer helps you out ( and dont forget that you have a
disability/impairment) you have to make it clear to them that it is s process of
hit and miss you migh find that you get the wifi sorted perhaps sheilded
in the direction where you are but you might find that something else rears
its head emf wise, so if you tell your employer you need to think very
very carefully about your approach/strategy. Either way ES persons have a
tremendous battle on their hands in order to stay employed in office/inside
building type jobs. Let us know what you intend to do so that we can all chip
in on evolving for the better your situation.
