Does anyone know if satellite tv is a problem for es sufferers? We just got a Direct TV satellite dish and my wife's symptoms started right away.

Yes. we've had several reports here from people bothered by satellite TV --
even their neighbor's! I've been reluctant to get DirecTV because
of the bad experiences reported here. Cable is more expensive, but
at least it's tolerable!

It sounds like the worst place to be is behind the dish itself,
although I'm sure the converter box is also a source of problems.

Oh boy, I am thinking about living in my RV for now & wanted to add satellite dish so I'd have some entertainment. I wonder if that will be ok for me.

Do you tolerate being in the RV? I would have thought the metal
walls would attract EMF... although perhaps that's not an issue
if you're in the middle of nowhere...

Re: tv satellite/RV Parks?

Loni Rosser
When we go camping & don't plug in, I am just fine in the RV. I am considering renting an Rv space for the winter because you know I am living outsideright now & it will be cold soon.

So there will be hookups there & other RV's with satellite & using heat. Plus you know they have 50 amp electrical there. I don't know if I can tolerate it.

Anyone know if that is an issue? Any experience with RV parks?

It's scary for me because I am soo reactive. I'm staying in Rio Rico in themiddle of no where but in a distance; there is that cell tower I can see. GEEZ. Can you ever escape.

There are two things to considerate:

1. The straight back of the dish may radiate longitudinal waves.

2. Normally the receiver works with digital signals.
Those signales are coverted in the LCD TV set.
And this LCD TV may have therefore other imaging signals on the screen.
Quite different from the normal analogue signals.

Listen to the sounds on:

*LCD TV + digital satellite receiver.*

Hi Loni,
When I lived in a travel trailer, I had to stay away from the other RVs,
and away from the mercury vapor lights.
They (the RVs) typically have too many toys that have emissions, and
parking right next to one usually puts you inside their magnetic field
from the transformer in the inverter/charger box.
So look around first, and choose a corner that will have a higher chance
of staying quiet.

I found the 12V radio and Bearcat scanner to be a good source of
entertainment, back before I could use a computer again. Things that
don't have to be close to me, in case the equipment was a poor choice.

If the metal can be grounded, it might help block any outside RF.

What's the best way to block the dish's effects through an outside
wall of the house in to the home?
I would like for it to look 'normal' from both inside and outside.
Everyone already thinks I'm nuts and lying about my symptoms, so I
don't want to make it any more obvious!
We have wood siding only on our house and plaster interior walls. My
TV sattelite dish is right outside the kitchen window with the back
facing me every time I cook on the stove, stand at the counter, or do
dishes. It can't be moved because that's the only place we get a
good directional signal on the ground and my husband won't allow it
to be mounted on the house. I thought it was the kitchen appliances
making me sick, but maybe it's the sattelite dish?

THANKS! THIS GROUP AND OTHERS LIKE IT ARE A BLESSING!!!

Deirdra, Your appliances could be giving you trouble also. I know for me I can't tolerate them. Especially refrigerators. But if your symtoms started when you got the satellite, it probably is the dish. Maybe the roof away from where you live most of the time would be best. Or go back to cable. Loni

Perhaps someone here has suggestions for types of shielding materials
that might be used in this case. Me, I prefer to use EMF protection
devices for such things. For something like this, you might tape
such a device on the back of the dish, or to the wires coming from
the dish, or maybe just place it on the windowsill. Some things
I would try:

A pocket polarizer ($20), probably attached to the back of the dish:

http://cutcat.com/item.php?item_id=827&page=4&category_id=44

A Quantum power conditioner (3-outlet = $29), plugged into the
nearest power outlet to the dish:

http://quantumproducts.com/catalog/quantum_power.html

A RADAR ($29) card, probably attached to the back of the dish:

http://radar3.com/products.html

A Tachyonized silica disc ($25 for a 35mm size), probably
attached to the wires coming from the dish:

http://www.tachyon-energy-products.com/externals/silica_disks.htm

Or a Springlife stainless steel pendant ($70), probably on
your person:

http://www.choosecra.com/store/tech/splf-silver-pendants.html

And if just one of these doesn't do the job, then perhaps 2
or more used in combination might. If you're trying to do
something which doesn't draw too much attraction to itself,
small devices might be the way to go (assuming that some of
these do the job!)

The problem may be the receiver. You might try putting it into another room and using smart home technology which is infra red and not wireless. The receiver needs to be grounded. Just putting it on some metallic cloth you can buy at Walmart and grounding the cloth can be good enough.

Very possible.
Sounds like the longitudinal waves others talk about.

What I would like to know, is What is the range of these longitudinal
waves, (unfortunately only measurable by it's effects), _behind_ the dish?
