Hi, what brand bed did you buy? Did it have an odor? I have MCS as well as ES so chemical smells bother me. Thanks,
Steve |

I bought a mattress that was awful.. as far as the chemicals. Didn't really think about it until after I bought it :/ No metal in it but i should have bought a natural latex one. What worked for me was buying some plastic and cloth mattress covers that zip up. I put one of each (plastic first and then a cloth one) around the mattress and it seems to keep the chemicals from leaching out into the air. Also you may want to line your pillow as well, some pillows are pretty toxic.

I won't go near a regular store bought mattress. My mother just got an adjustable bed and it really stank so I bought a mattress encasing for her. My concern is whether I react to the smell of natural latex. I was considering an organic futon with a wool mattress pad but still don't know what to do My pillow is down with an organic cotton cover

When we bought ours they were selling toppers and cores to make your own. Now they have mattresses as well. They have no odor. All organic. On Mon, Jun 20, 2016 at 4:16 PM, steve [via ES] <[hidden email]> wrote:

I bought a natural latex mattress once, and while it fine, chemical wise, it didn't allow body heat to escape, and neither me or my wife could stand to sleep on it. Also it had terrible back support.

Thank you for the link Kathy. This looks like a very reputable company. I need to find a platform to put it on, right now I just have a regular bed and boxspring. Also need to choose the firmness. I start off on my back but then go to my side. It will probably take me some time to go for it though as finding a platform will be a pain Steve

Hi Marc, Why do you think the back support is terrible? Latex mattresses seems so firm and solid. Steve, The trick for me is to use a cotton quilt w/o any polyester stuffing. in the summer. With A/C the heat is not an issue for me. On Mon, Jun 20, 2016 at 8:56 PM, steve [via ES] <[hidden email]> wrote:

The guy at Sleep On Latex agreed latex is more comfortable if it can breath. So you might be better off with a core and a topper verses the put together mattress. On Mon, Jun 20, 2016 at 10:43 PM, Tryingtoheal [via ES] <[hidden email]> wrote:

they usually make sheets of bedding in
different degrees of firmness.
so it's a goldilocks and the three bears kind of thing... one might be too soft (for one person), another might be too hard, and the third might be just right. i once bought a firm layer for the bottom and a softer layer for on top... worked well for me. and i put an airtight cover over the combination. love, patricia On Jun 20, 2016, at 10:41 PM, James [via ES] wrote:

With all the various latex mattresses on the market, I doubt one can generalize the firmness. Also, different people have different needs. One person's "firm" is another's "not firm enough". :-) Marc |

No A/C unfortunately. Did you find it to be hot?

what do you do with the core?

In reply to this post by Patricia
They make a soft version as well, maybe that would be OK. I have fibromyalgia and always have to toss and turn. I suppose I could also put a cuddle ewe wool mattress pad on top (been meaning to try one )

I use air beds...after airing them out some if needed. They only last a few months and then I replace. They are all covered with quilts etc...
