I used to take cromolyn sodium as an inhaler for asthma way back-in-the-day.  I certainly wouldn't be looking to take it without a prescription - the last time I had it it was only available in a nebulizer and it made my lungs worse instead of better for about half-a-day.  There _is_ a plant that the original compound was formulated from, but the thing to know about this stuff is that it only works where it has _direct_ contact, and has a short duration (only four-to-six hours).  Gingko, on the other hand, is actually related to this pharmaceutically, and works well everywhere - it should work better than cromolyn sodium!  Play with that first.
