I've also taken iodine for years, but after staining various parts of my kitchen with iodine drops, I switched to tablets (from Standard Process).  These may not be as effective, but at least they aren't causing unremoveable stains in my kitchen!

But I only take 3mg per day, not the up-to-50mg that some people take.
