Not long ago, it was still primary forest. They built their beach house there, now it became their main house.
I have to confess that I had no symptoms of ES there. Nothing.
Even though mobile phones work there (badly, so to say), I guess the proximity to the sea, iodine in the air, extensive time grounded (walking barefoot on tiles or beach)... makes a huge difference.
Jinna, I've been meaning to post here about the possibility of setting up a refuge in Latin America. I visited Costa Rica a few years ago and thought that it offered several advantages for people with ES:
- It's hilly enough that you can find areas that are sheltered from cellular signals.
- Smart phones and 3G aren't as ubiquitous as they are here (the US).
- Health care is cheap and high-quality. Almost any doctor will listen respectfully if you pay them enough, and i'ts easier to do that in Costa Rica than in the US or much of the EU.
- The differences in altitude make it possible to pick your climate, which could be nice for people with MCS or pollen/mold sensitivities. (It's humid and hot near the Pacific, very mild and dry near San Jose and cool in the mountains.)
The feeling was different: when I looked at the poor town, garbage here and there, it did not look pretty to the eyes, used to see the spotless clean Switzerland.
Yeah, that's the one thing I didn't like about Costa Rica, and I've heard the same about Belize.
